Prof. Gravlee made the class very interesting and connected material to current events. There are lots of assignments in the class but they feel worthwhile and you learn a lot. It does take a bit of time each week to complete all the HW but the HW itself isn't difficult. Prof. Gravlee is very organized and a great professor! Glad I took this class!

he gives a good mix of assignments that really make you learn more about this class. He really cares about his students and our learning more than grades. I took this class not really caring about the topic, wanting the credits but he changed that mentality.

Took his Race and Racism class online this past fall and he was so great. He pushed back deadlines, had a lot of extra credit, and was very accommodating to us. He was hands down my favorite professor this past semester. The class itself had weekly annotations and quizzes & was very doable. Highly recommend the professor and the class.

There is no better anthropology professor at UF than Gravlee. Not only does he actually care about what students have to say, but he is incredibly inspiring and uplifting. Yes, you have to do the readings and come to class prepared to discuss, but the material is super interesting. Favorite class I have ever taken at UF. (this was for med anthro)

Gravlee is an amazing professor who really cares about what he teaches and it shows. He does assign a lot of assignments but they're very easy to knock out. He cares more about teaching the material than grading which is honestly something I wish professors would embrace more. Definitely take a class with him if you can - you won't regret it!

Comment:
Great professor but the amount of work he assigns is ridiculous. There are so many readings, assignments, and a quiz due each week it was hard to manage with a full load of classes. The class itself was interesting and changed my world perspective. Also the exams are essay format. You should be really interested in the topic. Not an easy class!

I didn't take him for the writing requirement, but we still had a lot of writing assignments. Quiz every week and usually 1-2 other assignments due every Saturday. Big project due at the end of semester. Only 2 exams - midterm and final with 3-4 written response questions - taken online. Nice professor, interesting guy, but boring class sometimes.

I took him for Race and Racism, he's a great guy and makes the class a safe-space for conversation. The content of the course is also very interesting! Weekly online assignments (usually 2), no attendance, the midterm and final are online written answer responses.

Overall the professor is great in terms of lectures and assignments. However, it is almost the end of semester and I have absolutely no idea what my grade is at this point since only half of the assignments have been graded. We are still waiting for our midterm grades and none of discussions are graded. That is the only downfall.

Comment:
Dr. Gravlee wasn't the most engaging lecturer for this class. Some lectures would be interesting and full of his dad humor, but other times he made possibly interesting topics boring by being over-analytical. Overall, the class material isn't difficult and if you stay on top of deadlines for the paper, you should be fine.

The class is very informational and Professor Gravlee is extremely funny and doesn't make it awkward at all. If you show up to lecture and have a clicker he gives extra credit clicker questions. There's a big research paper but you take it one step at a time and it's not too bad.

I wanted to like this class, I really did. That being said, Gravlee could have made lectures more interesting, instead of full of information straight from the textbook. We also skipped straight over conception and contraception, which are the two most important aspects of human sexuality. He is a good lecturer, but the material got boring.

This class is really not worth it. It's much more work than expected. With 700 students, lectures aren't interesting so there's not much motivation to go.It is not easy to get an A but I guess if you're fine with a B then go for it.

Ok so I dont want to tell you how much I enjoyed Dr. Gravlee's lectures, more about his organization he takes around a month to get your exam grades back... really something I hate, he also takes a couple weeks to respond to emails, and one of the exams he showed up to 20 mintues late... giving us 30 minutes for 50 questions and 2 essays.what a joke

This class was very interesting and easy. Professor Gravlee was a great teacher and my TA was fun and easygoing. Come to class because it makes the class more fun and the clicker questions are interesting. The essays really aren't bad unless you are just extremely lazy. I got an A and you should too! Not to mention Gravlee is hot for his age!
