Comment:
McWilliams is a fine teacher but youre better off just looking it up in a textbook on your own time rather than listen to his lectures. He goes on and on and just makes stuff more confusing than it has to be. Hes not a bad teacher by any means and I did learn a good deal of knowledge from his class.

He has lectures that feel like they will never end. But he is very clear on grading and what is on tests/quizzes. He posts study guides for tests that you can use your notes you took in class to do. The quizzes we took were based on info from textbook but the tests were all notes we took in class. Would only recommend taking him if you study a lot.

He's a nice guy but he'd pace across the room back and forth and talk the whole class session. He wants you to take notes on his lectures but his lectues are out of sync with what's in the book. His lectures are very boring (no matter how attentive you are) and his pace makes notetaking impossible. If you want an easy history course, don't take him

Lectures and powerpoints are boring and long. He says one thing and while the textbooks say another. There are no clear grading criteria on his quizzes and class material essays.

The professor paces the front of the room lecturing from start of class till class is over. He goes over his time limit, and I'm not really sure what he's talking about a lot of the time. His lectures and the textbook don't line up, and his assignments are difficult to find the answers too. Very frustrating

Prof. McWilliams is a good teacher and a fair grader. Quizzes were frequent but not overwhelming. Tests were equally easy if you read the book. His lectures do tend to go off on a tangent making it difficult to take accurate notes, but if you read the chapters on your own you will have no problem. Overall maybe a bit boring at times but never hard.

Mr. McWilliams is a phenamoenal teacher and many of the other comments you are going to see are people that weren't necessarily interested in the course. If you have a love for history and you can have a good work ethic then you will have no problem getting an A in the course. As long as you care you are guaranteed to get a good grade.

Worst professor i ever had. do not take his class. we had snow days and without an email or posting something on web study he had expected us to know what to read and study and gave us a test on the first day back from the snow. everyone failed needless to say. do yourself a favor and find another professor

WORST TEACHER EVER!!!! First thing is he talks a lot and tries to ramble everything in your brain at one time. I am not even the type of student that falls asleep in class and he made that possible for me. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GRADES!

One of my least favorite teachers I've had. I think some of these shining reviews are fabricated, or maybe he was really good in a few classes and sub par in others. Overall he's a decent teacher, but he had a very lackadaisical attitude about his students' success and lectured almost constantly, making for one of the most boring classes I've taken

He knows his stuff. He gives the same lecture everyday and it's the most boring class i have ever taken. Quiz's are harder than tests but count for practically nothing. He calls the class full of adults "children" often. I suggest taking another professor.

I currently have McWilliams for Western Civ II, and American His I. I knew nothing really about Western Civ before taking it, and I am half-way through, and I still don't really no anything. He is unclear, talks to fast, and I find in American History, which I know alot about, he is frequently wrong about info he provides, its ridiculous.

McWilliams was not great, to me at least. His lectures were not clear, entire class was unsure of what was going on. I suggested a couple things to him, he said he'd try his best, but he didn't even listen and did not attempt. Sure, tests and quizzes were "okay" if you studied, but he doesn't even tell you how he grades. Not recommended.

I took Prof. McWillams for Western Civ II. He lectures on one topic each day, doesn't carry over from the last class. Grade is based on 4 tests given through the semester. Not strict with class attendance, don't need the textbook to do well. Great class!
