Comment:
Professor Walker is a good teacher; however he could have provided more participation in the discussions. Also, it should not take several weeks to get back grades and feedback. If you take him, you will wait to get your grades. But overall, the class was a good learning experience and opened my eyes economic history.

Took Economic History of the West. Good class, great discussion board. Lots of reading required. Professor required the keeping and submission of a learning journal - a first for me, thought it helpful, but odd. I enjoyed this class and would recommend it.

You will become well-versed on the effects the Great Powers had on trade and commerce throughout Western Civilization from the 15th century to present day. Mr. Walker sets up an interesting set of texts to read on the subject and asks for four papers on your Great Power of choice. A well-defined and rewarding course. Prepare for lots of reading.

Great professor and very understanding. Brought out the best in me by detailing how my writing could be improved. Space does not allow me to say enough positive items about Professor Matt. Respectfully yours, Roger J. Hourihan, ATA, ATP

Comment:
This professor requires a lot of discussion, so be prepared to participate, though he doesn't participate himself. Grading is timely, he communicates clearly and responds quickly. Very understanding. He expects well written reponses to only a handful of short papers (about 2 pages in length each). No complaints :)

I hated history before this class but he really made me like history! He's very helpful, clear, understanding,& most of all he speaks to you as a person and not above you like a lot of other professors! The class is light reading with 4 papers that have 2 questions in each paper which makes it so easy to write the paper. You don't have to drag a topic out for 6 pages you can break it up instead!! The best!!
