As far as I know professor has no pity. No late assignments no excuses. Theres a lot of reading thats for sure. The quizzes are 1 min each question, you have to read the entire reading assignments Within a week, just to answer 11-15 questions. Theres too much reading. Not enough time. No retakes.... No EXCUSE. I had just started the class btw.

So many assignments!! a lot of AHIS professors are like this!! Honestly if you're taking this as a GE, it's not an easy class, and you really have to work hard for your grade. If you're looking for an easy online class take something else, but if you're super into AHIS, take this professor!

I am currently taking Art History online. The class is very easy if you do the readings. Everything you need to know is in the book. Quiz and midterm are fair if you do the readings. Professor Folland,is organized and easy to understand. Discussion threads play a big part of your grade, worth more than the midterm exam. He replies to emails asap.

Folland is very enthusiastic about art history, which made the class really engaging, and very open to helping students on assignments. As long as you show up, pay attention and do the reading/work you'll land an A or a. Otherwise he doesn't appreciate bad work ethics.

brilliant and funny professor. Not a easy class but if you attend the class you have no problems. Attendance is mandatory and he is very rigorous about it. I'm a foreign student, controlling in 75% of the language, and I understood everything. it's simple equation, be serious and he will grades you high.

not a easy professor in any manner. if you are a community college student looking to transfer, then avoid him because a B or C from his class will bring down you gpa and hinder you from transfering. if you just need his class for GE requirement, then a B or C wouldn't matter. Overall, avoid if you want an A.

Professor Folland was THE best professor I've had at SMC. His lectures are very interesting and it's hard to not stay focused. He is not interested in tricking students, just getting them to learn and pay attention. He is hilarious and very sarcastic. If you like art history he is the one to take classes from!

Attendance is mandatory and take notes! He assigns readings from PDF files available online, do those readings! A lot of the questions come from the readings. I'm in the 6 week winter session and as long as I take notes and do the readings, I do well on the exams. He's a bit sarcastic, but funny and he's very knowledgable.

Pretty enjoyable. Has a sense of humor/makes a few jokes. Be on time and take notes/listen to lectures. Something missed could be a question on a quiz. Quizes are in the begin. of class. And I never bought the book, only listened and took notes. Most likely getting an A.

10 short answer pop quizes, drop lowest 2. final is a 2 page paper. requires extra books but not used very much. lectures entire class with powerpoint. doesnt take roll but you could be missing out on a quiz (they're usually every week, never 2 classes in a row). i would recommend and i dont even like art history. take good notes!

Requires several books and a lot of reading. Attendance is a must. 10 unannounced quizzes & the final are your grade. You have to be caught up with reading to pass them. His attitude and sarcasm can get on your nerves. Asks questions and everyone's answers never seem to be what he wants. I wouldn't personally take him again.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! unless you are seriously in love with art history. He has 10 unexpected pop "tests" with only 6-10 questions--they are worth 80% of the grade, the rest are the 20% from the final exam. Unless you took his class before, he is sarcastically mean and makes fun of you when you participate in class.

Absolutely hated this class...he speaks like he's in a court room..he doesn't use common words...he gives a ton of work and his quiz/test questions require a paragraph answer and if one sentence is wrong, the whole answer is wrong...very sarcastic...would not recommend !

sarcastic guy but probably has a good heart. his test, except for one, were completly from his notes. He says things like "important that you understand this" because it will be on the pop quizes. quizes are hard because he only asks 5 questions. dont bother buying the book. makes you do annoying group projects that are so boring to sit though.

He isnt easy but if you do the readings from the book, come to class, and read the articles he posts online youll do fine. But i would say its best to be interested in the subject prior to taking the class, it will make it easier.
