Don't waste your time in this class. Professor barely did anything, had to teach yourself everything. She never responded to emails and often left much confusion. Every class I've taken with her I've had problems. There are a million better HTM professors.

Actually the worst class I have taken out of all my college classes. I recommend not taking this class it was awful, especially online. She is strict on grading and the online tests we have to do each week have little do to with the loads of articles and videos she gives us. Save yourself this semester if you plan on taking this class.

Don't take her if it is just for an elective. She does NOT respond to emails, and quite frankly it seems like she puts no effort into the course. There are weekly quizzes that are graded by BlackBoard, and the things she has to grade herself she has not graded in over 1.5 months. Absolutely horrible for an online setting.

One project and one paper. Grades are arbitrary and she doesn't have a clear rubric. Hard to know what she wants, but she is looking for super specific things in answers and the paper.

Comment:
Allison is very rude and discouraging. She makes highly offensive comments every single class and is extremely argumentative and confrontational. Grades short answers based on how much she likes you and won't budge should you prove her wrong. Pours her own tastings first so she can be sure to have some liquor for herself should it run out...

Quite possibly the worst class ever. This class is all the lectures and the lectures are incredibly boring. If you're trying to take this class for food, there's rarely food nor does it taste good. The professor is also extremely rude to students. Do NOT take.

This class was the most boring class I have ever taken at GV and Allison might possibly be the worst professor I have ever taken. Shes an unfair grader and her lectures are painfully boring. Shes also very mean and offensive. Avoid this class if possible or take with a different professor!

Prof Adams is extremely rude, I tried to create a relationship from day 1 but she made no effort. Very dry personality and wants everything done exactly how she thinks it should be. interrupts students in the middle of presentation to tell them they're wrong and waits for them to think of something to say. Would NOT take again.

Allison is one of the worst professors I have ever had in my 4 years of schooling at GVSU. She is very rude and does not give clear explanations on any of the assignments. She is an extremely unfair grader and lectures are painfully boring. The way she teaches is random and unorganized. Do not take this course with her.

I'm not sure why Professor Adam's reviews are so awful. Establish a relationship with her and she is amazing! So helpful and down to earth. Her papers and projects are easy if you follow the clear guidelines she gives. She uses TopHat in place of a textbook, but its cheap. Her class is so interesting, would definitely take again.

There is not a book for this class, so it makes it hard when you have to write your two papers and two presentations. She also can be a total you know what. Not my favorite and I would not recommend. I took this class in the Fall 2018 and based on previous comments we do not have any group projects. Tophat is mandatory. That's how she takes attend.

She is very disrespectful, and you're better off not participating. Maybe even try researching the answers to your question before asking because she is rude when you raise your hand in general. She acts like students are complete idiots. We spent an entire class time learning how to write a paper, and what plagiarism is. Would not suggest.

She is kind of strict and has a funny personality. You have to write 2 papers and present. There isn't that many food tastings. You get to have one cooking day which is fun. Adams was terrible at responding to you my email and didn't seem to care when I asked her about my grade. Would not take this professor again.

Don't expect to do many tastings in this class, it's mostly a lecture. There are 2 papers 2 presentations (one per paper, 5-7min each), Top Hat is used in class for attendance and a few questions (for participation points) here and there, and occasionally you'll get a worksheet. Each year focuses on a new SPECIFIC region. Overall fairly boring.

Allison Adams is a great person and is easy to communicate with. But as a Professor; she gives overly specific requirements for papers that are for a FOODS class. which makes it feel like an SWS. Another thing was the lectures. They are absolutely mind numbing. She constantly goes off on tangents and focuses far too much time on irrelevant material

Adams is a nice woman I suppose, however her lectures are very dry and lack relevance most of the time. She brings in food & wine for you to taste! The class consists of 2 presentations, and an essay. For each she is very particular with what she wants, but it is exceptionally easy to do well. Overall, it wasnt as easy as I expected but still easy

Rude. Interrupts students while they are presenting & tells them they are wrong (how embarrassing for them). Never clear with what she wants, will mark you down for things she claims she said was required but never did. Call her out on something, she will become a total B. Such a BORING lecture, tells lame stories, explains pointless things. SUCKS.

I would highly reccomend avoiding her at all cost. She is SUPER rude and made pretty much half my class feel dumb by interrupting and calling them out during the middle of group presentations. She has no problem shutting down anything you say and her tests are super particular. It's a shame because it could be a fun class but she made me dread it!

She's not as mean as many of her reviews make her out to be, her responses just come off a little judgmental at times. Not many tests, I think we had 3. Does assign a big group project due in the middle of the semester. Does have an excellent knowledge of alcohol and provides many tastings to really help you better understand.
