Comment:
This teacher is extremely forgetful, rarely on time, and has a tendency to lose assignments. However, with all of that said, she introduces the material to students in an interesting and engaging way. Personally, I'll take content over organization. Good class, definitely recommend it.

Worst Professor I've had ever. Forgetful, unorganized and unprofessional. Took her WEEKS to grade our assignments and tests. And she was 15 min to EVERY class. Waste of my time and money. Do not recommend!

She has no idea what she is talking about. Always being corrected. Has shown up on time 2 times this semester. Loses things. Doesn't tell you what she expects from you and then freaks out when the assignment isn't done correctly. Doesn't do anything when she says she will. Took her weeks to grade our first reading response. Horrible as a professor.

Sherry is a very down to earth, entertaining instructor. She is EXTREMELY forgetful though. It took her several weeks for her to get the syllabus to me, which had our reading assignments and homework listed on it. Class is super easy though and not much is expected. Reading responses are graded on completion, not on content. Entertaining class!

Took a class from Sherry years ago and it was the worst experience of my entire education.I love literature but she made it such a heinous chore rather than something to be enjoyed.Ten years later I still shudder when I think about the pain she caused.I am a teacher and the only good that came of having her class was learning how not to teach!

The class itself is structured well, requiring the students to write different kinds of papers that will be needed throughout college. However, the evaluation methods are very unfair. She marks you down if she would've worded the sentence differently, no matter if your sentence if perfectly appropriate. It's difficult to tell exactly what she wants

this teacher made prejudicial comments in class often. she was not personable and did not like it when she was approached with questions about assignments. she did not provide feedback on many assignments. she had a nasty attitude. i would not recommend.

Sherry will challenge you! She will demand your best writing! She will flog you for writing BS papers! Sherry has the highest standards of any prof I've had (including 400 level classes). She knows her Lit and demands you learn it. She is hilarious, helpful, witty and will make you a better student and person with her high standards. Top 5 fav.

Sherry is a very traditional litarature Prof. and she will teach you how to write a strong literature paper, but she'll make you work for it. She knows her subject upside down and inside out. Don't expect your opinion or assumptions or personal response to get you an A, it's not that kind of writing class. My suggestion: get a good grammar handbook

Had to work reasonably hard for her class, but her purpose is to teach students how to write a paper for upper division English classes...it's supposed to be difficult. I really liked her and thought she was very helpful with her comments on papers.

Terrible. Said she hated poetry-despite being 1/3 of class, didn't know basic terms, banal interpretations. Got C & slammed on paper when she misread my thesis (protested and re-graded). Got an A- on paper with only negative comment that I didn't know right word for horse bridle. Racist, calling African-American subjects of a poem 'ghetto-black'.

very mixed feelings. pros- still got a B+, easy as far as class time goes, dropped the final paper so we only had 3 instead of the 4...Cons- made me rewrite the poetry paper because she told me my interpetation was wrong, doesn't give CONSTRUCTIVE critisism just lots of critisism, gets off topic a lot...batty old lady but i guess overall she was ok

Love Love Love her! She is outragous at times, but she definetly likes to make her class fun and funny! This class is all discussion. You read and discuss then take only 2 tests. No papers just responses(graded on completion)for each piece you read. If you go to class she tells you exactly whats on the tests. Piece of cake.

SHerry McGuire is by far one of the best instructors at Boise State. I took 2 courses from her and enjoyed mythology especially. If you keep up on your reading, participate on in class If you have questions approach her, she is easy to talk too. If you ask a stupid question, then prepare yourself for dumbed-down answer. She actually expects you to

I would avoid this woman if possible. Not personable at all, no sense of humor, and just simply a cold woman. In this class you write 4 papers and that is pretty much your whole grade (except for attendence and participation). But whatever grade she decided to give you, you better be happy with it because there is no reasoning with her.

She does a good job communicating the material, but since this class (Mythology) deals with current religions, she is not very tolerant of others' religious beliefs. She just treats you as if you are incompetent, but her grading was fair.

I took her for 257 & 258. She makes literature, dare I say it, fun and entertaining. Yeah, you have to work in her class. it's not that hard. If you do go to class, pay attention, read and do the homework, you're going to get at least pass, unless you're a screw up. for her tests, know how things are related and don't ramble, and you'll done fine.

She's very funny and interesting. You do have to put in some effort to get your A, but it's not completely overbearing. Just take notes and read what she tells you (or get some form of SparkNotes) and you'll manage. NO ONE aces her papers as she actually expects some effort & won't just hand you your A for bothering to do it. Get over it.
