Comment:
For the amount of work that you do, you gain very little insight from it. I could sum up the entire class in a mere 10-page essay, yet Brody wants this in 5 separate 15-page essays. Prepare to sit and discuss very obvious information for hours on end. Learn to love citing literature in your papers, and learn to love not having a unique opinion.

Brody loves what he does but doesn't teach it very well. It was very hard to do well in this class. The class was overall very confusing and I feel like I didn't learn the material. The emphasis was more on writing papers and not on actually learning.

Statistics isn't easy for everyone. It can be dry and tedious, but necessary to understand. Fortunately, Dr. Brody can make this happen. I only took the course 22 years ago, yet I think it says something that I still remember it not being painful, and in fact, being illuminating. He gave great examples, and really clear explanations.

Brody made the class entertaining with funny stories about his life and frequent jokes. Material was interesting, and he didn't overwhelm us with a ton of readings; in fact, I did extremely well without even cracking the book. Everything is covered well enough in class. Case study essays were a cool way to integrate the material in an applied way.

Comment:
This class had the potential to be a fun and easy class but Dr. Brody's lack of focus and inconsistent lectures made it more difficult than necessary. He would write up lecture notes and not follow them, his assignments were not clear, he assigned three papers do be done in the same format and never explained what he was looking for.

I thought Brody was a great teacher, he knows the material well. He is also a fair grader. I thought he was pretty funny as well. He answers emails quickly and will most likely give you a time extension on papers if you ask for it. He does assign a lot of reading for the class but it is all relevant.

Brody knows his material, and he strives for his students to think critically. He does seem to have unshakable opinions, but disagreement does not equal a bad grade. You just need to back up your opinions with research.

He can be tough, but helpful if you show an interest in the class. I gave him a difficult time, questioning everything, but if I had research or quotes from the literature, he accepted my thoughts. Has little tolerence for students who do not read the required literature, or fail to turn in assignments on time. If you show an interest in class, he

This class could have been good... Brody's condescending attitude did not help the classroom environment. To do well, you have to agree with him.

Ridiculous. Constantly making random comments, usually unrelated, sometimes inappropriate. Highly irritating. Personality is a distraction from information.

Comment:
The course is not too hard. He has high expectations, but that should be expected at the graduate level. Those complaining about the course being too hard are putting in minimal effort and consequently receive the grade they deserve. He returned the papers back within a week - very acceptable. A knowledgeable and enthusiastic prof worth taking.

AVOID THIS COMBO OF COURSE AND PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS. WAS AN EXTREMELY HARD COURSE. HE READ OFF WORD DOCUMENT EVERYDAY AND GAVE EXTREMELY HARD ASSIGNMENTS. ALSO TOOK HIM 3 MONTHS TO GIVE THEM BACK. ONE POSITIVE ABOUT HIM IS HE WAS VERY HELPFUL ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAD. ONLY DO THIS AS A LAST RESORT.

I don't think I've learned much from his class...It's all based on the case studies so the information he lectures on is so specific to one case. TO do well you need to learn how to please him. Too bad he couldn't be more like his wife

This class was very interesting. Anyone who says it was too hard probably did not want to do any work in the first place. Yes, there is a great deal of work, but it's graduate school; there should be work. He knows the material very well and challenges his students, shouldn't we appreciate that?

He's well prepared and knows his stuff. Grades hard though. I hope I pass this class. Gives a ton of papers, really kills your mind. Even other teachers give you a look when you tell them you take his class. Unless you are looking for a challenge, do not take him!

Enough with the case studies; they don't act as a proxy for good teaching. Too much of the rhetoric shared in class. Need to develop practical skills.
