Comment:
Professor Ruggiero had an awesome personality and a very obvious interest in communication law. We watched Frontline videos which usually take up the whole class time but if you show up, watch the video, and answer the simple questions, you will definitely get an A. Mock Supreme Court hearings were also fun. Mostly loved him for his personality.

He's not a good prof. for two reasons. First, he mails it in, which is sad because some of the subject matter is pretty interesting. Second, he is notorious for mixing upgrades. It's a crapshoot with him because he loses papers and confuses students. Don't be surprised if you are in his office at the end of the semester protesting your grade.

I have taken two of his classes (Multimedia Writing and Comm Law & Society) and they were pretty mediocre. He forgets he assigns homework, lectures are long and out of context; and shows a lot of videos (which you have to write about). The only challenge is he makes everyone participate for discussions. He's funny and nice but you won't learn much.

Not very clear on assignments or good at explaining basic news writing principles, but he will grade you harshly if your articles aren't written to industry standards. It's a total double-standard. If he likes you, all your grades will be an A. If he doesn't, you'll fail every assignment. Speak up and agree with him.

Dr. Ruggiero is a nice professor but he is unclear when it comes to giving assignments. When students turn them in he expects them to already know, so he gives them back to turn in. He won't tell you the first time. He spends half the semester showing students outdated journalism videos. Big Multimedia story due in the end of the semester.

Dr. Ruggiero is one of those professors who is very motivating, and even inspiring. He is a bit flaky with assignments (he will tell you to prepare for a quiz or whatever and will completely forget when the day arrives). There was very little instruction given on the actual structure of newswriting. On a counter-cultural level, he's tops.

Liked Ruggiero's cynical personality, but wish I had gotten more out of the class. He relies heavily on outdated instructional videos ("How to Write a Lede!") and silly interactive activities online. Don't half-ass your articles -- your grade will suffer. He likes length and effort. Big project at the end of the semester so GET STARTED EARLY.

Above all he is an amazing person. His lectures are fun and easy to understand. He is so personable and accessible which is not found in most professors. He genuinely shows interest in students success in school and in life. I respect him and admire him greatly.

Very lax class. Your attendance is not mandatory however if you try to argue your grade at the end of the semester, hill hit you with you were never in class. Just watched videos, wrote a response for all of them, 1 pg long each and one multimedia proect due at end of semester. Very easy. Speak up, make appointments, you should get an A.

He is an excellent teacher. He knows the true meaning of an investigative story. El Paso Times is a joke compared to the newspapers he has worked for. Those that take him that are not in print will never understand his concepts.

He brags an awful lot about what a brilliant guy he is but it seems like everytime he actually writes something for the Times, he ends up getting letters to the editor about all the factual errors in his articles. I had him for an editing class and he basi
