Nelson deserves a 5 bc his class gave me a better understanding of the world, he's a wealth of information. I recommend you take him if your major is Eng and if you want to challenge yourself. His reflection questions are hard to interpret, but I'm sure you can clarify by email. He understands if you miss class for a good reason, be open with him.

By far the worst professor Ive ever had. There were many problems I had with him including his rude remarks and crankiness. The biggest problem I had with him was that he was not clear on what he wanted when he made us write about worthless movies that had nothing to do with English. He also verbally attacked me during class. Do not take him!!

Prof. Nelson, is the utmost professional who is utterly passionate about what he teaches & every piece of lit. read. He also holds very active classes where his students are encouraged to participate, giving their perspective on the pieces of lit. read. Honestly, his course was interesting, but not a give me, exams are graded fairly.

Professor Nelson is really passionate about what he teaches, which made the class so enjoyable. He put a lot of work into making online classes work during the quarantine. Our class was discussion-based, so class was great as long as we showed up, took notes, and did the assignments.

I took 101 with Nelson a few years ago. He gave me failing grades, any grades that were passing were C or C+. He really drove my confidence down. I have since moved on as a Pre-med and recently got accepted into med school. Im writing this now because I'll always remember his snarky remarks about my papers and how he made me feel. Look at me now!

I took Horror Lit with Nelson. The class is very reading intensive, but if you are someone who likes to read, it is definitely worth taking. I highly recommend his class.

Wow! Lots of hate for Nelson! I don't know why! I've taken 101 and 105 with him! He's really funny, and the lit class is SO much better than 101! No comparison! He knows his stuff and we have amazing discussions in class! I admit he gets tense if you don't do the reading, but it's not like it's hard, and he gives all the due dates ahead of time!

It's true that Professor Nelson isn't easy, but a lot of these people should consider asking questions. I was engaged in class and taking a lot of notes just like Professor Nelson suggested. When I didn't understand, I asked and he answered. He obviously cares about students, and he uses a lot of examples to show how he wants things to be done.

It is very unclear what he wants, and the criteria for not failing a paper seem contradictory at times. At his office hours he was dismissive and unhelpful.

One of the worst teachers Ive ever had. He fails everybody, youll be lucky to receive a C+. This is disheartening considering not everyone is good at English or writing. And in order to get into another college you need an A. He isnt worth the time or energy, youll have to re take English 101 no matter how many hours you spend on your papers.

I could understand if you're an english major taking Nelson, but unfortunately it looks like he preys on Eng 101 students to get his aggression out. He failed my whole class. I only know because I started asking around because I was getting frustrated with my grades. And I graduated top 10 in my class...

i don't understand why MCC is still letting him teach there. He clearly is a very terrible teacher. gives you work that are not clear at all then fail you. I feel like he is a bully rather then a Professor. Don't make the same mistake as we did don't take his class.

Professor Nelson is probably one of the hardest ENG 101 professors you will have. He dislikes every writers work no matter who it is. Sometimes I thought I was in an advanced critical writing class but nope, just ENG 101. He really isnt worth it. Avoid at all costs.

By lots of homework i mean wasting 10 hours on a single paper, putting your soul into it just to get a 50, because there is "history lessons or you are telling the story". This class is a total nightmare and a waste of time, you wont get any feedback on any part of the essay either. So if you see this name in your schedule drop it or quit ASAP.

To be honest. He is the worst english teacher that i ever seen. He give us assignments that don't make no sense at all. we have to write about a movie and he makes it the hardest writing assignment ever because we the students don't completely understand what he wants from us exactly. i loved english since i was kid but professor nelson ruined it

Terrible teacher. Doesnt necessarily teach anything g at all. Instead Assigns 4 reading every night and spend all of class talking about them. If you are t in his room when he does attendance than youre screwed for that day. If you want to go over your essay, he projects on screen in front of the class.

He seems like a nice teacher who says funny jokes yet his papers he assigns are so hard to understand. He is extremely unclear on what he wants or what he grades on. Every essay he has assigned I was so confused. He grades essays very harshly and takes off points if he does not see what exactly he is looking for. He makes ENG 101 hard.

Very difficult grader, he does tell you what he wants but its not always very clear and its hard to understand. The way he wants us to write essays just does not make very much sense. He does not give lots of work though, and he is a pretty nice guy and pretty funny too.
