Ive taken multiple classes with Dr. Jones at this point and will say this muchhe is a great human being outside of class. However, he will slash your grades without hesitation if your opinion differs from his in the slightest. Get ready to write massive essays and keep your head down if you want a good grade. Do not recommend at all.

Dr. Jones is a fantastic human being who truly cares about his students and is willing to work with them to accommodate needs. He is a fairly tough grader, but if you put in the effort you should be fine. He also has a great deal of wisdom about life in general--he's definitely the kind of guy with whom you'd like to enjoy a cup of tea.

Dr. Jones was a pretty good teacher, but I wouldn't put him on my list of favorites. He's a strict grader and doesn't allow much creative freedom. If your ideas concerning a specific poem discussed in class differ from him then watch out! The essay portion of exams were difficult as he gave you a short amount of time to write 2 rather long essay.

Comment:
Dr. Jones does not encourage creative freedom. He is a rather subjective grader, even for an English prof. If you don't support his personal opinion in your essays, you will not get a good grade no matter how well you actually write the paper. Occasionally he says funny things in class, but it's not worth it.

Just do the papers, you'll pass. Although to get a good grade you have to do them exactly how he wants. He takes attendance, but as long as you turn in your work, it doesn't really matter. A lot writing exercises that I find pointless, but they're easy A's. He genuinely cares about his students and will always help you. Very understanding

He's a good teacher and will definitely help you if you ask for it. Beware though, he isn't afraid to fail you if he doesn't feel you've done satisfactory work. There aren't any tests, just a few quizzes and papers. Work hard, don't procrastinate, and show up to class and you'll do fine.

Dr. Jones is a nice guy, however, I took his class at Chatt State and was thoroughly disappointed after my awesome Comp 1 experience. His explanations aren't very clear and he has a tough time explaining things on a level that students can understand. He wants papers written HIS way and you will be penalized for creativity. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

He gave me a 50 on a paper that was 20% of my grade because of grammar and sentence structure. Dropped me from a High C to a High D. Would not advise this teacher!

He is the worst teacher I have ever had. Please do not take his class, because you will regret it immediately. He shows zero mercy on grammar, and he will fail you in a heartbeat. He does not care about his students, nor does he actually take the time to teach them accordingly.

It is a shame that students at Bryan College have to experience the true hell that this teacher brings to class. Do not fool yourself, the quality of his teaching skills are completely subpar compared to other colleges. Avoid this teacher at all costs.

Dr. Jones is a very good teacher. His class requires a lot of work, but he wants everyone to succeed. He is extremely gracious. When half the class failed a paper that we should have been prepared for, he let everyone do rewrites. He is an interesting teacher, and you never know what to expect in his class!

I would strongly advise anyone to not take this class. The professor does not listen to the student's opinions, and he will not help you on your paper's. The quizzes are near impossible, and he would rather fail you than teach you.

The teacher disregards every opinion, creative input, or even stylistic approach to writing. The teacher's lack of communication stifles the classroom into an acute awkwardness, and general confusion. I am disappointed with the teacher to say the least, because the class is affecting my viewpoint on the rest of the school.

He is literally the worst teacher of all time because he does not communicate. He is prejudiced with his grading system. His expectations are impossible to fulfill, and his emphasis on grammar is demoralizing. Overall he is not a good teacher in the slightest. I am very dissatisfied being in this worthless class.

I had Dr. Jones as a professor nearly a decade ago for several literature classes. He was a wonderful teacher with a balanced, thoughtful outlook who was concerned about his students' well-being and the quality of their work. I learned many things in his classes and from him as a person that have helped me in life, work, and academics ever since.

Took him at the Chatt State site. You "can" pass the class but he grades on his views and not the quality of your work. If you take him write from the right!

I was a Lit. major and had a lot of classes with Dr. Jones. Not only is he a wonderful teacher who stretched me and made me better, but he took interest in my life and was a great encouragement. He maintained a good balance between academic rigor and grace. I am blessed to have had him as a professor and friend, and I miss attending his class.

A LOT of work! But, the class time makes up for it when he starts talking about knights and maidens and all that jazz.
