Michelle Carter is one of the true hidden gems in Creative Writing! I had her in Independent Study. She maps out the entire semester and she can work with your schedule. But dont take advantage of her easy going teaching style! You got to put in the work and show that you are studying. Take a class with Michelle Carter!

I don't get the last person's problem. This wasn't a workshop class, it was for the craft requirement. Plus we spent the last hour of every meeting talking about our writing in small groups. I got a lot out of the class that I'm now applying to my fiction writing. I thought the teacher taught a helluva class.

Comment:
Prof Carter is friendly but the class structure needs work. She has a hatred for work-shopping, thus your work is read by almost no one and given no feedback of any kind. Class time really dragged after the daily quiz with the conversation on the play lasting a good hour. Be aware, LOTS of printing out of massive amounts of paper for the plays.

Michelle Carter is ridiculously brilliant and dedicated to her students. Her high level of teaching experience shows, as well as her ability to really engage the classroom and keep discussion on target. She taught me so much about teaching, and as others have said, had me really thinking outside of the box. I highly recommend her.

i don't know who rated her before, but they're way off. carter is awsome. very think-out-of-the-box, which is wonderful for learning about teaching. she says she doesn't want to teach workshops anymore... mostly teaching and craft. everybody else's loss.
