Would not recommend unless you are well-versed on sociology. Not suggested for minors. Never ends class early and likes to hear herself talk. Very caring about students but takes off points on assignments for unreasonable things. Does not have a clear rubric for how each assignment will be graded.

Has really fun readings for homework that are attention grabbing. She responds to email super fast which is a plus. There is clear guidelines for the class and wants you to learn rather than memorize random facts.

While you might be hesitant to take a class on race taught by a white professor I would say take the class. The material and content are handled very well. She does follow through with only 3 absences before your grade is impacted. Textbooks are either provided online or can be found for free.

Dr. Rothschild was a good choice for Intro to Soc. I entered the class late and she was very accommodating to my situation. She did spring alot of assignments near the end of the semester which was annoying considering I had big exams for other classes and I took this class as an elective. Overall, great pick though and I do recommend her.

Love Professor Rothschild! The final is worth a lot, but if you take notes during her powerpoints and do the group assignments, you will be well prepared. She is very organized and makes the class interesting even when the content is heavy. Some of the books she requires are online, so just look around first. She is a great professor.

Hard pass. She was good for one semester but I could NEVER deal with her for another one. She's a nice person and she's super caring but shes so boring. I dreaded the class. Easy A though!

Dr. Rothschild is a great professor. She is super understanding and wants the best for her students. Unfortunately theory can be boring and difficult but if you are required to take it definitely take it with her because group work and class assignments prepare you for the final.

Not bad prof. She does seem to care about her students. Lots of lectures and we essentially do the same thing every class which is boring. 1 paper, midterm, final, participation and a couple small assignments are your grade. Free online textbook which is nice. She gives extra credit that's pretty easy, and each assignment is 1 point on GPA.

She is an amazing professor. She makes class fun, and the more the class participates the less lecture heavy she is. She makes you think, but when it comes to grading she gives many opportunities for you to get full credit. We had a one midterm, but no final. There were quite a few papers but they were short and part of a larger portfolio

She is a very nice person and I respect her as a person and teacher but she is very lecture heavy which turns an hour and 20 minute class into what feels like 4 hours long. We took a lot of notes but would rarely have tests. Easy grader and will make accommodations for you if you miss class. Nice person but very boring class.

Dr. Rothschild is very nice and very accessible outside of class. Almost all of her classes are lectures, and her monotone way of speaking can make some of them hard to sit through. There are also quite a few projects that sometimes require community involvement.

She is an awesome professor for SOC 100. Not many assignments, however, she offers extra credit often. We had 2 papers and a midterm and final. The class is mainly lecture and discussion, but not that bad for a lecture!

It is very clear that she is knowledgable of the material and knows what she is talking about. She cares about her students' grades and has made it clear that she is available for meetings. Her lectures consist of powerpoint notes and class participation is essential.

A very interesting class and she explains the material well. Class is solely lecture but she opens the floor to group debate/discussion. There are a lot of readings but you can get by if you know the main points. Only 2 short papers and a cumulative final that isn't too bad. I would highly recommend if you are interested in studying race.

This class is not for the people who want an easy class. This class makes you think and work for your grade. She is a great professor, knowledgable and fair. If you are confused she makes herself available. She does use the books, but she unpacks the readings and so maybe split it with a friend and share. We only had 2 papers, and one final.

Teal is great! She's very clear with the information she gives. Not many tests, but they are very straightforward as long as you know and understand the material you should be fine. Kind of a lot of reading, but nothing unbearable, totally doable. Interesting class, teaches till the last minute.

very good teacher, knows what she is talking about during class lecture. Have to participate and answer her questions unless she wont move on to other material. Kind of a hard grader but as long as you work hard and ask her questions to clarify you will do good.

Comment:
While Teal is an extremely nice professor she is often unclear and repetitive. Participation is important and she relies heavily on group activities. Alot of reading but you dont really have to do it because she goes over it in class. Overall she's there for you if you have any questions but her classes often come with alot of work.
