This class has been painful. Not sure if it's because of the professor or because the class is just boring overall. He makes it worse. Lectures are long and draining to get through. Lots of details. Be ready to sit through hours of PowerPoint slides.

I'm only 5 weeks into the course and I cannot stand the way he is "teaching" us. We listen to his voice on audio files and he just reads off the slides. It is so pointless and the worst class I have taken. We don't learn anything, but he provides such hard study questions

Ryan is a very kind professor. He spent thirty minutes going over my midterm with me telling me where I needed to improve on and what i did well. He also noticed that the TA had marked me strictly in one part and gave me an extra mark with no hesitation. He wants students to succeed and he is a really caring professor who takes extra time to help

Listening to Ryan Dill through a computer is torture. His voice is completely monotone and expressionless and he puts forward the material in the least engaging way possible. I don't know if the class is boring or if it is Ryan's terrible delivery. When it comes down to it, Ryan should not be teaching in any way shape or form.

This was my fave prof till this day. Super caring and makes lectures interactive and entertaining. I actually enjoyed sitting there for 2 hours. All you gotta do is memorize the powerpoints and you will do amazing. If you had concerns he was always open to alter things and help you suceed

No feedback for exams. Very specific questions with very strict marking. Expected a higher grade than what I received. Group projects + quizzes are a grade boost.

Kind prof (took another class with him in person), and he's knowledgeable about the material. BUT never responds to emails, literally. Also grading criteria for exams is too specific. For online class, you won't be able to reach him and won't see him during exams. Get ready to read!!!

Took 3 weeks to respond to an urgent email. Not good lectures. Midterm was brutal. If you can avoid taking this course with Ryan Dill, do everything in your power to do that.

I took this class online and it was really well structured. 2 quizzes and 3 group assignments and they were marked reasonably. Mid-term was brutal, however he made sure to make our final exam relatively fair due to the low averages on the mid-term. Online lectures were informative. Overall I enjoyed the course!

Took bpk 105 online with him, can't really rate him as a prof for it because not only was everything textbook/online based, he also didn't show up for the midterm or exam. The course itself is definitely not an elective nor does it deserve to be 3 credits. I had to put days into his class. if you don't have previous science background, goodluck.

Worst prof I've ever had. He teaches a third year course like an elementary class. His monotone and LONG pauses made every lecture super dry. The graphs in the lecture slides have 2 pixels and are completely unreadable. Always spend lots of lecture time on repeating materials that we should know from previous courses. 100% avoid if possible.

i don't understand the low rating on this prof. He wasn't the best prof but he was pretty great, in terms of exams &such. They were all super fair. Also, he ACTUALLY takes your feedback and tries to improve which I think is so amazing. Honestly, put in the effort, you'll get results.

Great prof. Everything you need to know in the lecture slides and lab manual. Very straight forward. Midterm and final were fair, but difficult because they look for very specific answers. You'll do well if you put in the effort!

We had to do three projects and 2 quizzes. The feedback was minimal and the due dates were way to close together. Midterm was hard but fair.

Coming from a third year student who took this course as I changed majors, I found Ryan to be an average lecturer, there were never times where I felt he missed any important details but he occasionally went really slow and put us behind. His exams are fair and just require memorization and not much understanding. Not bad, not great.

I would have liked to hear from the TA or the professor... Felt like I was alone in this course. Other than that, focus on the objectives and review questions and you can ace the class (not easily, however). DO NOT underestimate this class. I'm a President's Honour Roll student and had to spend more time on this 100 level course than my seminars
