HORRIBLE TEACHER! Class is made up of only 3 test and 1 final. Does not curve but takes HW grade and replaces lowest test. Not sure if I will be passing this class because of such a lazy teacher.

No partial credit for problems, does not use any online resources, does not abide by his syllabus, lectures are useless, he just does book problems on the board. 4 exams, no quizzes. Average for first exam was something like a 30 or 40. Just avoid this guy at all costs. I highly regret the frustration that stemmed from taking this guy. A V O I D

He is hands down, the worst professor I've ever had. He is 90, and can't hear anything. He spends every class copying the book word-for word onto the board; he doesn't actually teach. This class is ONLY based on 4 handwritten exams. No homework, quizzes, etc. to boost your grade. He got rid of the homework extra credit, so good luck even passing.

Worst professor I've had so far. He reads the problems that are already solved in the book. Tests are hard, I had to learn from youtube and solutions manual. Avoid him at all cost.! The only good thing about him is his homework extra credit.

He reads out of a book word for word when he presents it to the class on the overboard on his written notes that we could barely see. His exams after the first one are hard but he does let you drop one with homework assignments and gives extra credit which was worth half an exam. You should be able to pass but it will be hard work.

DO THE HOMEWORK. try not to take him if you can, he has an unrealistic test policy. About half of my class dropped the class because he was so bad. Out of 55 people on 3 people passed the first test with a 70, and the second test wasnt much better. He changed his grading policy to make Homework worth most of the class in the last two weeks of clas

It was quite tough, as his lectures sometime were irrelevant, but had some really useful techniques you could use on the test. Plenty of homework, but do all of it and he would drop your worst test and replace it with your homework score. (15 problems per section, really easy to get full credit there). He also gives extra credit at the end.

I've taken & passed AP Calc BC, which is probably the only reason I did so well. He teaches in technical proofs, doesn't give examples nor show how to apply the lesson, & often forgets what he's doing. The 3 tests are hard, but the overall homework grade (completion) can replace one. He gave a LONG extra credit assignment, adding 10% to class grade

The reviews here are not at all exaggerated. He's is not very efficient in explaining concepts and like others have said, if I hadn't taken AP Calculus in high school I don't know where I would be at this point. I do not recommend this professor whatsoever.

Only 3 Tests where the homework is due. Never explained things that well in class, so I never attended. Only teaches proofs and expects you to know the rest. Does not do partial credit. A lot of extra credit is only way to PASS. Half of my class withdrew.

Horrible teacher. The book he tells us not to buy, he basically "teaches" the whole course from. I put teaches in quotes because he really can't teach at all. I think he should have stuck to research and avoided teaching.

If you are considering signing up to take a class with Dr.Cannon, let me make it easy. Don't. The tests are beyond difficult and his lectures consist of him rambling as he goes through unnecessary proofs and making mistakes on examples. Bottom line, if every other Claculus class is full, you wait, because it is still not worth the frustration!

Do not take this professor if you can avoid it. He teaches only by proofs and poorly. If I had not taken AP Calculus in High School I would have failed this course. His tests are EXTREMELY difficult, but you can use calculators.

He is a nice guy, but cannot teach well at all. He focused nearly the entire semester on proving theorems, at which he did quite poorly. The class and homework did not prepare for the tests nor for the final. I cannot stress this enough: DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH DR. CANNON!

I took honors calculus one with him. His is an extremely intelligent man. He just expects everyone to know as much about calculus as he does, which is unrealistic for calculus one. I scored a 5 on the Calc AB AP exam and am struggling to stay afloat in this class. It isn't a matter of doing the work. It's a matter of being a genius.

I love math, loved AP calc. This professor killed my love for math, he can't teach and the textbook is no help. He is unclear and gives no examples to learn from. He gives proofs and then his tests are hard trig problems. Do not take this professor no matter what, or you will struggle in calc 2 most likely.

Really nice guy, but not such a great teacher. Spends more time proving theorems than showing how to apply them. Most of your learning is done through HW

Cannon is a very old school teacher who likes to talk about theorems and proofs. Not a fun class. Exams are very difficult, and his grading scale is very tough. Final exam was hard too. Most students get B's though.

On the plus side, he's easy to understand, drops the lowest test and replaces the next lowest with a homework grade. Minus, he's a terrible teacher and drones on about proofs that he seems to forget half of, his grading on tests is near unfair- half off for wrong signs- and he didn't show up for our final and expected us to take it another day.

Differential Equations - Take this professor. Class doesn't achieve much but cummilitive tests ensure you learn material. letter grade in Extra credit after withdrawal deadline. Great Teacher, Drops lowest, replaces second lowest with homework grade. However, This subject requires you to be self taught via solutions manual.
