She is a terrible lecturer. Lectures are straight from the book. Dont need to even go to lectures to pass. she is boring and only knows about plants. However she does have a big curve and you will probably get a good over all grade even if you do bad on the tests. Honestly didn't learn anything from taking her class.

Horrible professor, she gets confused by her own slides. She put material on the final that we didn't cover in class. Gets mad when you ask questions. Her tests are VERY difficult its almost as she were writing them to test other biologist and not entry level bio students. Avoid at all costs.

There are 3 tests and a final, no homework or papers. The final is made up of the exact same test questions from all prior tests in class. She posts some test questions/answers in her lectures, so it is worth it to go. The only way to review your test and get the correct answers is during her office hours. She curves heavily.

Seems like a nice lady, liked to lighten up lectures with jokes and anecdotes. She isn't the most engaging lecturer, though. I would read the chapter before the lecture, then listen to lecture while following along in the book. I got an A. She curves generously. Know how to apply concepts, attend lecture, read the book and attend PLF sessions!

Didn't bother to go to lectures except to see what chapters we're studying. Honestly, no point because she basically reads straight from the book. Exams were atrocious, horrible. Got an 83 on my first exam, but ended up failing the other exams. My last hope in passing this class is the curve at the end..do not take this class.. you will regret it..

In this class not only you need to really understand the material, but you need to know how to apply the info. You are on your own, meaning that you need to have really good studying skills to learn the info for the test. The entire grade depends on 3 tests worth 70% and the final worth 30%. If you take this class good luck you'll need it.

You want honest advice about Matos' lectures? Her class is purely power points that are 100% from the book. You're better off sitting down at home, opening up the book, and taking notes on it yourself.

She really has no idea what she is talking about but, she is actually a funny lady if you talk to her in office hours. I think that she is way more interested in her upper level bio classes than her lower level ones. Very possible to get an A with the curve as long as you just read the book and outline the chapters.

I hated going to her class because I knew she was going to confuse me rather than tach me. She has no idea what she's doing and sometimes even gets mad when people ask her questions because she doesn't know the answer. Most horrible class ever.

She is unorganized and when you ask her questions she answers the opposite of what she had said previously. She expects you to memorize scientific names of about 300 different algea and other species. This corse is not recomended.

An A is possible, but you need to do the reading and memorize the "key terms" from the textbook. Most of the class struggles through the semester, but she curves reasonably in the end. Don't lose hope.

Professor Matos spends half of the class stuttering and saying "umm" and the other half making fun of herself and the class. She basically reads the book word for word, and then drops these 3 exams and final from hell where each question takes up 1/2 a page. Good thing is she puts like a 30% curve. I failed all 3 exams and got a B in the class ???

Comment:
There is a lot of material presented in this class, but you will learn a lot if you put time into studying. Showing up to class is not enough, you must read and study the chapters, which other students complained about having to do. If you put in the work, it is possible to get an A.
