One of the best professors I've had at SUNY. I learned a lot from him and this class. He's SUPER NICE and very helpful and always there if you need him. The workload wasn't that bad but overall it was an amazing class! LOVED HIM! SUPER EASY A!

Professor Smith gives WAY too much work. On top of the multiple clicker questions, there is in-class groupwork almost every class, and 4 film description papers worth 5% each. His exams are 100 questions long and his review sheets aren't exactly in sequential order. tl;dr: Way too much work, not enough reward for what you do

Good professor. Some of the lectures droned on a bit long. We had a lot of additional class material that was interesting and different, watched a lot of international movies that really give you a feel for the places and issues he discusses in class.

Chris is a really great professor. He only teaches large lecture style classes but he is loud and clear in what he wants to convey. He is serious with no cell phones or laptops and greatly expects you to read the book for daily Clicker questions. You also need to watch movies at home that you are get quizs. I thought it was a great class overall!

The course itself is not so interesting but I LOVE HIM! We watch movies in class and also watch movies for homework and do short papers on them. He tried to make the class as engaging as possible. I definitely recommend going to his office hours, he's a really nice guy and if he personally knows you it definitely helps!

This class was very frustrating to attend. He used iclickers so one would lose points if you didn't go. He often goes off on tangents so not all the content is covered for tests. He is the most unorganized professor I've ever encountered and is horrible with technology, which is heavily used. He also assigns large papers for not a lot of points.

Excellent professor and course. The lectures are full of interesting information, and he makes them engaging. All you need to get an A is to attend the lectures and do a few simple papers on some movies. You'll learn a lot with limited work.

The course material is not easy, but Prof. Smith does an excellent job of teaching it. A very enjoyable, funny professor with a cool English accent. He posts practice questions online that you need if you want to do well on tests. I definitely recommend.

easy class for the globalization gen ed. he's not nice but his slides and classes are really clear and make the tests easy and there aren't any trick questions. the online videos are kind of annoying but are 1-5 questions of every test

Very good professor, and has a sense of humor. All notes are on slides which he puts on e-reserves. 4 exams and 4 movie quizzes (very good movies in my opinion) and 6 pop attendance quizzes. He also gives an extra credit assignment in the form of a research paper-a lot of work but worth it. A very good class to take if you need to fill a gen ed.

Don't even consider taking this class unless you enjoy leaving the class asking what just happened? He blows through the slides so quickly that you can barely copy down the first line and then posts the slides that are not able to be opened. And better yet, theres no textbook just awful eres articles that are impossible to see b/c they are scanned

Apparently in 2007 this professor was much better. This is not the case now. The professor makes it damn clear that he is much more interested in french films than urban geography. Some of the films are utterly STUPID. About 5 film quizzes are required which are RIDICULOUS (not quizzes, research projects). If you take this class do the first five!

Comment:
This man is the worst teacher on the UAlbany campus. The 6 film quizzes that are mandatory are utterly ridiculous. He wants things to be oddly specific and footnotes and all this other stuff that has nothing to do with the class. WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN....DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN. PLEASE, MAYBE WE CAN GET HIM FIRED. Truly, awful.
