Comment:
CIT230 is a very repetitive class. Each week you have lecture like usual, a quiz each week, an assignment of some sort and a discussion board. The lectures are kinda slow. The quizzes can be hit or miss depending on how well you read the textbook. Assignments include a 10-page paper, a group project and a 15 minute video presentation.

Dr. Yoas was my advisor, so I know him better than most students who take him occasionally. Dr. Yoas is the only professor in the cybersecurity program who goes the extra mile for his students. You get out exactly what you put into your classes with him. Most of these poor ratings are because he actually expects students to work for their grade.

Although he puts much effort into lower courses like CIT230, he gave no effort in this course at all and masked it as "throwing you into the deep end to help you grown and learn". There was little help and guidance and no one had a clue what he wanted from us in the final project. Avoid at all costs if taking a higher-level course.

Get ready to work. I do respect Professor Yoas, he's helped me out when I asked. He seems knowledgeable. The workload for InforSec is 3-4x more than any other 200 level class. Multiple discussion posts, a quiz on 80 pages of reading (lecture doesn't relate to quizzes), plus writing for a "project." Written more for class than ever for English.

An awesome professor. His teaching style may be a bit difficult at times and work load may be a lot, but if you talk to him about it he will work with you - as he did with our sections. If you keep up with simple discussion posts and assignments, you will pass with at least an A or B. I felt like I actually learned something after this class.

Great professor and makes your time there useful, as his stores and lectures are interesting and different from the book. There is a lot of writing, so be prepared for that. Not really anything negative I can think of!

If you can avoid taking him beyond CIT230, please do so. Courses under him are money traps. Gives untimely feedback. Uses "Flipped Classroom" inappropriately. Chooses whim over reason when it comes to disputes. Grades on abstract content not covered in syllabus. May fault almost an entire roster for academic dishonesty to cover for bad teaching.

Yoas is a nice guy but his grading and class system is just terrible. His class is triple the workload of all my classes combined. I am taking two 400 level courses with other teachers and he's still giving more workload than them in a 300 level course.

The worst teacher I've ever had, expects you to be an expert in topics you're just being introduced to in this class & in agreeance /w his opinion 100% of the time. Keep in mind to not to emulate his work i.e. ex because he will take off points irregardless of whether he did it in his examples. Tests are based on the slides, not the book it seems.

I came to the Pennsylvania College of Technology for the "Degrees that work". Unfortunately, Dr. Yoas's teaching style does not embody this concept. We spend a majority of our time in discussion, thinking and talking about the concepts. For someone like me who learns by doing, this is the worst possible learning environment.

This class was the worst one that I've taken at Penn College. Dr. Yoas promised us extra credit for the assinine amount of presentations we had to do (2 a week), but never gave us ANY. The "flip the classroom" idea of this class was awful. More work than all my others combined. I ended the semester with a 79.8% and he wouldn't round up to a B!

Presentations consistently! Every week we had to meet with a new group of students to present a 15-20 min presentation. The assembly was a very fun challenge. You will have to be willing to learn a little bit on your own, however, after you get the basics you will find assembly to be a helpful and useful language to know.

This class (CIT344) was the most ridiculous and misguided attempt of a class. Awful, would not recommend with Yoas. Grading entirely unclear, you will know nothing of your grades until day before grades are due. Syllabus vague, "FLIPPED CLASSROOM" model is horrendous. Combine with Yoas' tests, grading methods, makes for a difficult semester.

His teaching style is very good. Although some students dislike his lectures, he keeps you engaged and participating. The biggest reason for failure is not doing the required weekly discussion postsquizzeshomework. Essay exams. Very fair grader.

Yoas talks alot, but you learn from it. He grades easy and wants you to learn, unlike Singh. He also knows what hes talking about. Alot of assignments that seem like busy work.

It's a shame that Dr. Yoas has received such poor reviews on this site. He is an incredible professor. His lectures tend to be a little "dry", and he DOES assign a lot of work/busy work, however the content is very useful and applicable to our field. He is a very smart guy, and very easy to talk to/get along with.

Nice guy, class is tough. Assignments aren't that clear, but ask and he will explain. Takes FOREVER to grade stuff. Dropbox closed on September 15th, it's November 15th and it's not graded. Otherwise not bad. Kind of underrated here
