Comment:
I had C. Liu's lecture class only and I had Canalita for lab. For her lab, she expects lab reports to be written ONLY in pen. If that does not bother you then it's fine. Also she is hard to understand because she has an accent. Sit in front row to hear better. Take her if you can handle accents.

Worst teacher I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. She mumbles frequently, refuses to explain any of the problems she does (probably because she is just copying off a paper), and makes eye contact with the class once every few hours. Took her for summer, and a year later I still regret it. Please, please, please do not take this woman.

Our economy in America is terrible. That being said, knowing that such a terrible professor is getting full time work is even worse. Facts: she does not use the book, will not explain chemistry problems even in office hours, she uses materiels from other colleges rather than making her own, does not follow any order when "teaching". Learned nothing

I am a good student and I get good grades but this teacher really disappointed me. She explained concepts so poorly and gave notes that were difficult to understand and follow. She constantly stared into space or to the floor when lecturing, struggled to answer questions and just lacked clarity. I did my part, but I feel she failed to do hers.

The secret to passing this class...sit in the front row, you won't be able to hear or understand her otherwise.

Very nice and funny lady, but not that great of a teacher. Spends most of her time mumbling to herself.

Okay, so when I first started my chemistry 10 class and she told us everything we had to know and remember I kind of freaked out because I NEVER took chemistry in high school! I soon realized it was a lot easier than I thought. Her tests are NOT hard unless you didn't study or you're just stupid. Sit in the front and read your textbook before class

Very intelligent, but she can't seem to communicate effectively with the class. Tests are very difficult, even if you take thorough notes and read the textbook several times. Seems to talk mostly to herself during lecture. Also, be aware, she CONSTANTLY loses papers and forget to input grades on some assignments so KEEP EVERYTHING SHE HANDS BACK.

There was a lot of work and it really helps! Do all of it. She's really picky on assignments and tests overall, but it's actually needed and will make you a better student. One thing though is that she never/rarely answer questions. Show up to review sessions for tests!

This professor is better off at university level. While she is nice and helpful and gives lots of extra credit, she does not grade very fairly and you have to seriously read every part of a question. She speeds through the class and doesn't really seem to care if you can not keep up.

Good prof and if you read your book and take solid notes through the lecture you will be fine. She sometimes contradicts herself, which confuses the class, but if you ask her questions one on one she's really helpful and makes time.

She is nice and explains things clearly, if you ask ?'s, pay attention and read the material beforehand. Gives LOTS of extra credit opportunity. She also goes beyond the textbook sometimes, which can be confusing at first, but will really prepare you for general chemistry.

The best professor I have ever met. You can get amazing number of extra credits, and she also gave many chances for the guy who got low score in test before to take a make up test, which can easily help you to get a higher grade!

she is a very good prof. if you talk to her and ask questions after class and she would explain specificly.what's more, you can get a lot of extra credits if you do extra homework,so i think you can get an A easily if you want.

I loved this class. She may not be the best at explaining during her lectures, but if you do the reading before classes, like you should already be doing, and you will be fine. I got an A and I slept during most lectures. READ BEFORE CLASS and you can get an A!! She marks off for simple things on labs so just triple check before you turn them in.

i really like professor canalita. I didn't get the grade i wanted but only because i stopped reading the chapters and got lazy. she is willing to help and offers a lot of extra credit, if you just put in a little effort you can definitly get a good grade, you just have to keep up with your reading and you will be fine.

What a horrible teacher. Explains concepts poorly, doesn't answer questions. She can be funny, but that doesn't take away the fact that you should be prepared to learn on your own. Also, some very disruptive people in the class that she needed to control but didn't. She lives lost in her own world.

Comment:
I'm took her over the summer and discourage students with limited background in chemistry from taking this. It is an intensive 6 week course, 5 hours long M-F. Then you must have the dedication to teach yourself everything because she is hard to follow. She is a difficult and unforgiving grader. Avoid her over the summer!
