Best professor I have had at Marquette. He cares that you learn, but makes sure you know exactly what is going to be on the test so you get a good grade on it. Uses his personal experience to teach material which gives more meaning to the class. Would take any class he is teaching.

I took a class with Dr. Z four years ago and still think about it at least once a month. I've never submitted anything on this site before, but this professor is uniquely formative. Highly recommended!

Dr. Zemler is a great guy and is very passionate about teaching. If you don't have much prior knowledge about religion (came from a public high school) you might have to do a little more studying but Zemler's workload is light, just do a good amount of studying for the final and you'll be fine!

One of the easiest classes I have ever taken. Had three tests and I would guess the class average was an A on all of them. Tells you exactly what is going to be on exam as it comes right off the study guide. Also makes class fun and enjoyable. One of my favorite classes. TAKE DR Z

He is honestly my favorite professor. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams and has a study guide that spells out exactly what will be on the exams. He's a great guy and a great professor, would recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat. Makes class tolerable with funny inferences about everything you learn.

Great professor! It helps if you have taken a class (preferably Theo 1001) before with him, because a lot of information repeats itself- you have to learn the same lists and bible passages for the exams.

He is my favorite teacher so far! He is very engaging in class and makes the material very interesting. He is also very helpful outside of class. There is a lot of "required" reading, but a few days before the test, he tells you what parts of the reading he will be testing on -which is basically the only parts you need to read

His class was amazing! each "episode" was interesting and keeps you engaged in the conversation.. the books that are needed are not exactly "required" and you dont actually have to do the readings to pass the class or the test. he is very helpful and always open and availble. I WOULD TAKE HIS CLASS AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT

While the amount of books he requires you to buy may seem overwhelming, the "required" reading isn't actually required. He will tell you specifically what chapters he will test you on. Also be aware that when he says "In a hypothetical test taking environment..." he really means "This will be on the test" (which he does often)

Zemler was my first Theo professor ever. He was clear about what he was teaching and what he expected from students, but he based a lot of his lecture on the assumption that everyone had a sufficient background educaiton on theology. I would recommend trying another teacher if you did not attend a catholic high school or have background in theo.

This guy is great, very laid back and his lectures actually make sense. All of his test are 40 multiple choice with maybe a few short answers, piece of cake, just re-read the chapters before hand and you'll be fine. I wish he could be my teacher every semester!

Dr. Zemler is a great teacher. He tells great storied and class is enjoyable. However, he is very sick and often in the hospital. because of this he cancels class which is great. He once canceled a test and gave everyone 100%! Thank god because his tests are very hard. You MUST study for them!
