I think she is a very good lecturer. She isn't boring and explains the concepts very well, which is impressive considering how intelligent she is. Gen chem is probably equivalent to simple arithmetic to her. There isn't extra credit or any curves and the exams are not multiple-choice so make sure you study.

Tests and quizzes were fair and represented the material well. Professor Chen will listen to student feedback and work hard to make sure everyone actually knows the material. She's always open to questions and genuinely cares how everyone does. Probably my favorite professor I've taken. The class isn't easy, but she makes it better.

Very boring professor with vague terminology. I barely passed and don't know if I could do it again. Try and find another professor if you can.

One of the best, most inspirational professors I have ever had. Explains quantum chemistry in a clear way that makes you love the subject (which was my absolute favorite). Homework and tests are very fair. Truly cares about her students and does her very best to make sure everyone succeeds. Very engaging lectures. Absolutely amazing in general! :)

Dr. Chen is a genius. She loves to see students excel in this subject despite the difficulty level. She is always available in her office for extra help, and will help you until you thoroughly understand the topic. Do the HW because the exams and NOT easy. Be prepared to study hard. Hard class but not impossible to comprehend and make a solid A!

Dr. Chen is an amazing woman. She really cares about her students and is seemingly always available outside of class. Quantum mechanics is a notoriously difficult class, but go to class and take notes which she does at an easy to keep up with pace and she will test fairly based on the class material and homework problems. Best professor I have had.

Dr. Chen is a very knowledgeable and kind professor who really cares for the success of her students. Her lectures can be long and boring sometimes but it's only because she explains things very thoroughly so that everyone understands it. Uses iclicker points for attendance, not too much OWL, tests weren't bad. Overall great professor and class

Dr. Chen is really smart and nice but her lectures are super boring so I never really paid attention. I learned mostly from the recitations and the OWL homework. Her practice exams are pretty similar to the actual exams

Dr. Chen is an amazing woman. Pay attention in class, do the homework, and do the practice exams and you will not be surprised by anything on the exams. She is an extremely fair grader allowing make up for one exam based on subscore performance on the final. No power points, no need to read the book. She cares about the students. Recommend!!!!

Dr. Chen makes sure you know the material. The tests can be scary, but I always did better than I thought. Make sure you do the practice exams. She usually has grades posted within 24 hours. The homework is a little much at times, but it really helps you understand the material.

Dr. Chen is thorough but slow so lectures were boring but she does take participation points with iClicker (half credit if answer is wrong) so go to class. She assigns a lot of OWL homework but just plan to do them and you'll be fine. Her practice exams and the recitations were helpful. Overall, she's very nice and fair and I would take her again.

Dr. Chen is a good professor but I found her lectures to be extremely boring so I often found myself playing on my phone. Her exams are not too bad if you study a little bit you should be able to get B's fairly easily. The homework load can be a little much at times but overall good class.

In class she explains everything very slowly and I was often bored, but she is very clear and takes you through every step of each problem to make sure you understand it. Her practice tests correlate well to the exams and if you study it is not hard to do well. It was not my most interesting class by any means, but I learned the material well

Don't let the name fool you, Dr. Chen speaks English better than you do. Very fair professor who actually teaches the class. The TA was also super helpful. The teacher isn't the issue with this course, the subject matter is just ridiculously complex. Studied harder than I've every studied in my life and still made a C+ (I have close to a 4.0).

I loved Dr. Chen. She is by far the best chemistry professor I have had here. She gives clicker quizzes every class so I would make sure you go to class to get those points. She also is amazing at explaining things and gives great help. She gets your grades back super fast. Loved taking her. I used her practice exams to study and I made an A.

Dr. Chen is one of the best professors I've had at USC. She is extremely helpful, and truly wants students to succeed. The quizzes the TAs give and practice exams give a good idea of what will be on the exam. She even holds review sessions sometimes before exams. I definitely recommend taking her if you can!
