I have no idea how I ended up with a B. I stressed about failing the entire semester. You have to do good on the daily quizzes and in lab to make sure that you pass this class. Awful

Here's the silver lining to Timkovich. Homework is really hard and really long but tests are modeled right after the homework so memorize the homework and you will do well on the tests. Quizzes every class that are 10% of your grade but he drops the lowest 20%. He curved up like 3% at the end if you are on the edge. He also brings a puppy to class.

Don't take Timkovich. There is a 1 question quiz every class that is 10% of your grade so it can be a real grade killer. There are about 200 homework questions every unit that are very difficult. The tests are modeled right after the homework but are hard. He lectures about things that won't be on the test but you have to go for the quizzes.

Usually I don't think ratemyprofessor is accurate since many students could be mad/over exaggerating, but he is easily the worst professor I've ever had the misfortune of taking. I know you probably doubt the whole "he doesn't teach" thing from other posts, but they aren't exaggerating. Some of them don't go far enough in my opinion. Awful class

Worst teacher I've ever had, tests and quizzes are hard, he's not very approachable, doesn't explain well and he isn't afraid to yell at you. Avoid taking his class at all costs. He also messed up the final by putting the wrong answer key so everyone failed and got a 0/100, we had to email him to get him to check it over and most of us had A's.

He's extremely terrible. He put the wrong answers in blackboard for our final so the whole class made below a 10. There are quizzes every single day and he's extremely rude. He's decently good about replying to emails quickly, but he's extremely rude when he does reply. I only passed because we were online due to corona.

Timkovich is not accessible outside of class, and MAKES NO EFFORT to help students. I went to his office hours and he turned me away. He would not allow me to schedule a meeting to meet with him either. He purposely tests/quizzes on the hardest material. The material he covers in lecture is irrelevant for tests and quizzes.

The lectures are basic but the quizzes he gives in class rarely have relevance to the upcoming test. He doesnt provide study guides, and the test questions are usually worded in weird ways that can easily mess with your comprehension of what hes asking for. He doesnt give feedback after the tests or go over them, and is rude outside of class.

This class was hell on earth. The lectures did not help at all with the tests and you basically had to teach yourself. Clicker quizzes every class that were either really easy or impossible. Homework took hours and had nothing to do with test questions. Do anything you can to avoid taking him,

No visual aids in lecture, doesn't post Powerpoints online like every other prof on campus; silently solves problems in class and his way of explaining the solutions is quietly rambling for 5 or 10 minutes about something tangentially related to the subject. Best part is attendance is mandatory. Avoid at all costs

Worst professor on campus. He does not teach you whatsoever, so be prepared to try and teach yourself. He is flat out rude to his students. The homeworks take forever to complete, and he gives a quiz every day in class that are worth 10 points each. There is so much more to be said about him, but just don't take his class.

Honestly the worst professor Ive had in my time at UA. Definitely dont take him unless you are amazing at chemistry. You wont get an a unless you know chemistry extremely well and are extremely prepared.

Timkovich knows his Chemistry but cant teach. His idea of going over a complicated problem is to spend five or ten minutes silently working it out on the board with his back to his students. Lectures are useless so prepare to self-teach if you want to pass.

Professor Timkovich is not only a bad teacher he is incredibly rude towards his students and makes sure he is not accessible whatsoever out of class. He disrupts class to humiliate students and people across campus that have taken his classes can all conclude he is the worst professor here. Take this class with literally anyone but this man.

He is extremely rude if you try and ask him questions about the material. Listening to his lectures will confuse you more than if you just use the textbook. Definitely take a different professor if you can, but at least he brings his dog to class. The course is miserable but doable.

The only reason I did well in this class is that I took AP chem in high school and learned the material then. He completely ignores his class in his monotone lectures and has no regard for the understanding of his class. Exams are 25 questions multiple choice over at least 2 chapters at a time. He gives daily quizzes and takes attendance.

One of the better professors at Alabama. Gets a bad rap because so many students at UA think they should just be handed a good grade for putting in minimal effort. Hate to break it to you but this subject matter is hard and not everyone can do it. If you put in the work and work to understand the actual material itself you will do well.

He is by far the worst professor at UA. Homework takes weeks to complete, pop quizzes everyday and there 10% of your grade. Be prepared to fail the exams, I did everything I possibly could and still had a 50% test average. He is unapproachable and rude. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Russell TImkovich is honestly the worst professor I have ever encountered. I expect a hard class but, this class is unreasonably hard. Ive never studied or done so much chemistry in my life and im barely making it. Haven't passed one test yet even though I have done everything he has advised us to do. THIS CLASS IS TERRIBLE! Don't take this class.

His lectures rarely had anything to do with the homework. He would go on and on and then say "i didnt learn this until my first year in grad school". You use a clicker for attendance and a quiz everyday. The quizzes hurt your grade easily! we started with like 120 students and now we only have 60 from kids dropping.
