I just saw a lot of the negative reviews were on the timing of quizzes and exams. Cheryl responded to student complaints on this in the class by increasing her exam times half-way through the semester doubling the time given. She clearly wants everyone to suceed in the class.

Just took the TEAS test and so much information from Micro popped up on it I had to write this review. You NEED to take this class with Cheryl. I learned so much from her lectures. Other classmates who took other Micro classes from other instructors were totally lost while studying for this test. Tons of extra credit make for an easy A.

The positive reviews are not accurate. My classmates and I did not receive good feedback at all. She would say incorrect or why? without guiding us towards the right answer. Sure, there is extra credit, but this profs grading style is so weird that it doesnt do much for your grade. Her tests are the worst; too little time is provided.

I was really worried about micro before I started taking it, but after the first few Zoom meetings I saw how much she wanted her students to succeed. She was super responsive over emails and provided me with a lot of help on assignments and exams. She gave out so much extra credit at the end of the semester, my grade jumped a full letter grade!

Great teacher. Go to the Zoom meetings. She gives you so much help on your lab assignments there. The tests are not bad at all if you study really well and have a few notes nearby. She gives extra credit like every week, too. Overall a great class.

Infectious disease is an interesting class and the way this prof has it set up, it is straightforward fun to learn. Simple assignments every week. Just do the work and you'll be fine.

I have never seen so much extra credit in a class before. This instructor really wants her students to succeed giving me every opportunity to improve my grade. I am SO THANKFUL I took professor Hackworth for Microbio.

As a person this prof is nice but grading is the opposite. No constructive feedback on labs and marks off points for tiny mistakes. Tests are open book but way too little time is given. I dont have problem understanding the content but time limit stop me from makin sure I read and answer correctly. Take another prof or at other school

I took this class at WVC to save some money but I realize it wasn't worth it and should've taken the class at San Jose State. This professor is an extremely harsh grader and rarely accommodating. You get minus points for little mistakes. Exams have a very low time limit and you will run out of time just reading the question. Avoid at all costs.

This class has TONS of extra credit and every midterm I saw the class got a B average. It's almost impossible not to get an A or B in the class. You do have to work for it if you want an A, but it's so much easier than when I took it on campus ten years ago. I really learned the material in this online class - great teacher!

Cheryl recorded video lectures, had weekly Zoom meetings where she was really helpful with the lab material, and we had exams throughout the semester that were challenging but really short, open book and open note. The labs were fun for an online class.

The class is pretty straightforward. Just read the book or watch the lectures, take notes, answer some questions every week. It is a really interesting course. Would recommend to anyone getting into nursing.

Challenging course, but if you study, you'll do really well,. I didn't really need the book - most of the info was in the lectures. Just memorize the material and you'll do fine. The labs are a lot of fun and not too challenging. I can't wait to take her other courses.

Shes AWFUL. She is passive aggressive, expects you to know material she DOES NOT teach or go over in her lecture videos. She docks off points even if you're headed in the right direction & gives no feedback for correct answers. Im not learning A THING except that she is more AWFUL as the days go on. Horrible. Its pretty much a self taught class.

I was looking forward to this class but now I wish itd be over. She knows a lot but her labs are 90% of material she does not go over at all. Shell explicitly say your answers are incorrect, rather than help guide you to the right answer. Tests are about 20 seconds per question, which helps no one. Read fast or fail.

Comment:
Consider taking this class with a different teacher or at another school. She is unfair on grading lab questions, which are almost entirely based on material that she does not teach. The majority of the class grade is based on exams, which are designed to test how fast you can read, not how well you understand the material. Save your time and money

Take another instructor if you have the option. Definitely an instructor full of knowledge but not very clear on instructions for labs which are heavily graded. No Protorio but only given 20 seconds per question on exams. Notes can be used but there won't be enough time to do so. If you value your mental health take another instructor.
