Lucy Wilson is my spirit animal. I learned so much in her Language of Poetry class. She is inspiring and open-minded, and class discussions are fun and intriguing. She's not an easy grader on the papers, but if you're unsure of how to approach it then ASK HER - she is ready to help anyone who is willing to ask her questions. Great class!

She's very sweet and a nice teacher, but it's very difficult to know what she wants in essays. Her prompts are kind of vague, and it's up to you to be creative and do what you want with them. There is a lot of spontaneous poetry writing in class and she makes you share them, which wasn't so fun... Don't take this class if you're someone who's shy!

I don't like Doctor Lucy and I don't think she likes me either but I've taken two of her classes (Caribbean lit and lang. of poetry) and I can honestly say she's wonderful. She's a fair grader and she loves her subject. The only problem is that she gets a bit confused wit assig. deadlines and stuff like that but other than that she's great.

She calls herself the "Grammar Nazi," which doesn't even justify it. She is an incredibly hard grader on papers, and doesn't think people are original enough cause she's seen it all. Not a lot of HW, mostly reading in class, especially reading aloud your own work; so if you are not confident don't take her class!

If you are a student who is serious about growing as a scholar and as a person, take Wilson's class. Prof. Wilson is one of the most erudite faculty members in the dept, and the breadth of the knowledge she shares extends far beyond the scope of the class if you are open to receive it. Wilson truely encouraged my best scholarship.

Dr. Wilson is very knowledgeable, very sweet and willing to help. Having said that, her left-leaning political rants take up too much class time and are offensive to those who are not liberal. She grouped all conservatives together and at one point actually called them "idiots." Very offensive.

Dr. Wilson is the sweetest woman you will ever meet. She does not have much homework and you can still skate by without doing some assignments. She's incredibly understanding. She is slow but she has Parkinson's so get off her back! She has THE best one liners and is brilliant. Super passionate. Take her!

She is very amiable and approachable as far as professors go. Her class was always interesting, as she had a lot of interesting, and at times very funny, insight on the poetry works. She is a fair grader, but you really have to do the work and apply yourself to the poetry. It will definitely help if you actually like poetry.

i have no idea why people give her such bad reviews. if you are an english major you should absolutely take her classes. i've taken both a lower and upper division and each time i discovered that you get exactly what you put into it. one of my favorite teachers ever.

Couldn't understand a word she said. Went into her office hours and she didn't provide any helpful criticism. She's very sweet and wants to be helpful. She's very open to interpretation, and loves your poetry. Grades moderately--make sure you know what you're talking about and you have great grammar. Take her if you have a hearing aid.

I'm sure she's brilliant, but I couldn't understand a WORD she said all semester. She was so quite and mumbled way too much. If you have a hearing aid, feel free to take this class.

Seriously. She gave me a C on my paper even though on every single point that I made, she agreed. After taking about 3 hours on a analytical paper about poetry, she told me that my paper was "a mess." She marked me down 2 entire grades for about 5 grammatical errors.

I've had two poetry classes with professor Wilson; Modern Poetry and a grad survey class. She is interesting, knowledgeable, funny and a fair grader. If you show up and make an honest effort and you will get a good grade.

She comes off as so sweet and passive, yet she picks who she likes and who she dislikes and it is quite obvious. She handed me the worst grade that I have ever received based on the fact that she did not like my opinions. Apparently poetry is completely subjective in her opinion and no matter how valid your arguments are, hers are better.

Very intelligent and sagacious professor. Classes are very laid back and interesting. Highlight of the class is writing your own poetry and sharing it. Definitely a great choice for fulfilling the mandatory English 201 requirement.

She is very quiet and laid back - very interesting person with a good sense of humor. Expects a lot of reading and about 25% of the class discussion is relevant to the books. I suggest this professor for anyone who is capable of analytical thinking, enjoys talking, and is into Caribbean literature!

Absolutely hysterical! She's, as very well put by the poster before me, "curiously funny for an old lady." She tends not to outline her standards and criteria clearly before you end up getting an unexpected low grade on a paper or exam, but she's more than willing to reconsider and help you out. Great class for those who love poetry!

my fav prof. 2 take home papers, one in class paper. don't have to do reading (not like there's really any anyway). have to write a few poems and read them aloud in class which is kind of awkward esp b/c she doesn't tell you about that in advance. still an awesome class. funny and curiously dirty for an cute older lady.
