Comment:
The basic concept of Calculus is not difficult to comprehend, but for some reason Mr. Raber makes this class incredibly difficult. Even if you go to him for help he will give you pointless advice that you could have attained yourself. If you do take him be prepared to ask the LA for the previous exams and know every detail from the sections.

He is very difficult, and rambled on and on without stopping to make sure no one had any questions. Take his class if you're willing to spend 2-3 hours a day, every day, studying.

It was difficult for me to understand the lecture at times. The way he explained things was often confusing. It's easy material(took with a different professor the following semester)but it's hard to do well if you're not used to the teaching style of your professor.

I am an honors engineering student and even after reading Dr. Raber's reviews, I was confident that I would easily pass the class. I have a D in the class!! I go to every class, do the homework, go to the Learning Assistants Study Sessions, and still I cannot do well in this man's class! He's a nice guy, but DO NOT take his class

Absolutely, positively awful. He rambles on incoherently throughout the class, does not accept questions, and if everyone is confused, he moves on anyway. I got an A with no problems in Pre-calc, and got a 41% on his first test - which was actually above average. Save yourself.

What does it say about an instructor when you go to his office hours for help and he immediately tells you "That's not my job, go find a tutor.". Dr. Raber, I really hope you read the ratemyprofessor reviews and do some soul searching. The curriculum is Introductory Calculus and not Advanced Calculus Analysis....

finishing. he wouldn't sign so I went to the person above him, who talked with the dean and they decided to sign my slip. Well Raber had me put back in the class after I dropped it and DID NOT TELL ME. So I went to check my grades a couple weeks ago, F in a class I thought I dropped. I am STILL working on dropping and may lose scholarships. Thanks

He is not the worst PROFESSOR in the world but he is an absolute jerk. I was failing this class because I didn't have the time for it but he will not sign drop slips. So I met with him about it and he just told me I was a horrible student for 15 minutes without giving me a chance to say I wasn't a loser slacker, I just overscheduled.

Overall, he is a good teacher, tough but good. As long as you do the homeworks, ask questions on the homeworks, study the definitions, and go to class, you shouldn't have much of a problem. I learned more from him than I did in an whole year of calc in high school.

I don't know why everyone thinks this guy is that hard. I have flunked my last two calc classes and am current getting a B. As long as you do the homework and ask questions on questions and concepts you don't know you'll do just fine. overall, very effective teacher

Dr. Raber is an old skool professor thats gotta teach advance math in a short amount of time. It's so hard not to skip, but DONT SKIP attendance is crucial he starts exactly when the time to start is and ends at the very last minute. Doesn't grade HW which means you don't do it and no calculators, but if your taking calc you should no how to manage

Complete jerk and is not willing to work with his students. His tests included problems that we never even touched and were 100 times harder than book material. Partial credit on his tests is a rarity. Take someone else, and if it doesnt fit your schedule, wait til it does. Most of the class dropped or failed. Does not sign withdrawal forms.

If you are ridiculously good at math and have a TON of time to devote to the class, go for it. If you just need calculus for your degree but don't really need to remember it, DO NOT. He is insanely difficult. He only grades the tests, which are difficult and full of writing out definitions and theorems. Over half the class dropped.
