If you need to take ACC 213, by all means please take another professor. You will be much better off with another professor regardless of the rating. Don't take this professor, and you will be much happier with your semester.

The average grade on the first exam was a 52%...I don't know if it's this class or the department or what but students are feeling like they have no way to succeed. GVSU has a serious problem in its accounting department. If you want to take the class ACC 212 good luck, truly.

Sopariwala is a tough, straightforward professor. He tells you what's expected of you and expects just that. Quizzes weekly. Try in class and ask questions and you will understand what's going on. Accounting isn't easy but he does a great job teaching it.

Professor Sopariwala is a great guy and is super knowledgeable, he has a different way of teaching which may not work for everyone but for me it did wonders. From what felt like it was going to my hardest class turned out to be my best because of how much he cares you learn and try in his class. He is super organized as well.

Tough class. Material is important to know and he knows it really well, but sometimes it is difficult to understand his way of teaching. He is willing to help outside of class but will not make it easy, he is going to make you work for it. If you aren't required to take this class then I wouldn't suggest taking it. Textbook truly isn't necessary!!

This man deserves a trophy for best professor (if he hasnt already received one). Yes, his class is intense and he grades hard. But, I wouldnt want to take this class with anyone else. Hes very caring and if youre an accounting major... Sopariwala is a must! Treat every quiz like an exam and you should be fine. Don't skip class either...

He certainly knows the material, but he tends to over explain concepts which I struggled with. I wouldnt recommend. Tests are nothing like homework and each multiple choice test question is worth 3 points.

One of the worst profs I have had at Grand Valley. The actual Math done in class was very simple, however he had already worked out all of the problems and hands out his answer keys to problems before you attempt the problem in class. If you are someone who learns by actually working problems out, I highly suggest you do not sign up for this class

For ACC 213 he assigns homework on the stuff he hasn't taught you yet so in order to do well on the homework (due twice a week) you have to read through the whole chapter and try to understand it yourself. Then after you spend way too long teaching yourself and get an average grade on the hw because of it, he will teach it to you the next day.

Can be a little overwhelming sometimes, because he teaches on a very "big picture" analysis method. He knows his stuff and can be a little intimidating. I had a hard time keeping up in class. You have quizzes throughout the semester that help your grade and keep you on track. Don't bother getting the textbook.

A bit intimidating but really knows his stuff. You only use the textbook once all semester and he has that particular problem available online. Tough grader but very fair and gives a decent curve. Really wants students to give as much detail as possible on exams and projects. When you think you've done enough for him, do a little more.

He's a great professor if you are interested in thoroughly understanding the material. If you are simply looking for an easy grade, do not take this class. He's generally a forgiving grader and will curve exams and final grades. Study one day before quizzes, two before exams and you should be fine.

You really need to have a 110% understanding of the concepts. If you wanted to truly master cost accounting hes your guy. If you didnt do well in ACC213 you will not do well in his class. He expects you to already know how to do all the problems he does in class before he lectures. Exams and the project are very tough unless you dedicate yourself

He expects a lot out of his students and there is a good chance that if you put forth the effort you'll be fine. Grade is based off 3 exams, a project, and 8 quizzes (drops 2). Very challenging exams but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get bad grades on them. 80-85% on an exam is curved to an A typically.

Parevez is a very bad professor. His classes consist of quizzes, and meaningless lectures. The days you don't take quizzes, he will run through problems out of the book and run through the problem as if you knew the material as well as he does. He does very minimal teaching. Grading at the end of the semester is on a curve, but by his discretion.

This is the hardest class I have taken at Grand Valley. You have to work extremely hard not to fail. He is a very nice man and if you go to his office hours he is very willing to help, but his tests and quizzes are so difficult it seems impossible to get an A in the class. Even my accounting tutor was having difficulty helping with his problems.

Sopariwala's ACC611 course is very challenging, the most difficult in the MBA program in my opinion. Final grade consists of 2 exams and 1 case analysis. Exams are extremely tough but he gives partial credit and adds a generous curve to bump up the grades. Attendance/HW not mandatory but you will feel behind if you miss. Office hrs not too helpful.

Comment:
Sopariwala is great. Tests are difficult, but he is a completely fair grader, and grades on a curve. He is helpful and is always asking if topics are clear to the class. Lectures aren't mandatory but you will miss out if you don't attend - and he is moderately entertaining. Two exams and a paper. He will challenge you but it is worth it.
