Comment:
Dr. Giffin is a very old man. He speaks so slowly and softly that it's difficult to understand him and pay attention. If there is ANY stray sound in the classroom it becomes very hard to hear him. The class proceeds at a middle school pace. Sure, I learned a few things, but it has less content than the Wikipedia page on American history.

Professor Giffin is a much older man that is very soft spoken. His lectures tend to be almost inaudible even if you sit in the middle of the classroom. He's a very tough grader when it comes to writing 2 of your 1,000 word essays and short paragraph exams. Be sure to actually study and read the material that is assigned by him.

Honestly this class was not too hard. He is very quiet so sit near the front. You MUST pay attention to his powerpoint, but the tests are basically the powerpoints. Although he is a tough grader, he is willing to help you when you ask.

He is extremely monotone, and rambles on and on. He is a nice teacher, yet not helpful at all. There is no class participation, which makes it easy to fall asleep. He talks the whole class hour. And he goes slow. Taking notes in this class is a MUST!

He is an extremely soft spoken old man. His class is not hard; you take notes everyday off powerpoints. There are only a few essays and tests. However, if you want to stay awake during class or be in the least bit interested, take someone else. He is just boring. I am a history major and I dropped the class.

Giffin is such a sweet, older, man. He is very helpful, and willing to work with you as long as you are upfront with him. He is very soft-spoken, so get a close seat. He is very knowledgeable, and as long as you take good notes you will never have to read the text.

I think he is good and he describes everything very well. I'm not a big fan of reading history books soo that kinda stunk but over all hes a good teacher. Just dont be late because he'll stare you down the whole time your walking in.

Great teacher if you like history, i learned more from him then i ever did from high school history classes. Tests are pretty much from the notes you take, so write everything down. There were a few papers but nothing to long.

This is a lecture class. He is extremely knowledgeable which makes him pretty boring sometimes. If you like taking notes and not reading chapter after chapter of the giant textbook(even though you're supposed to), this is a good prof. You have to write 2 1,000+ word papers and the exams are essay exams. However, I have learned a lot in this class.

Very soft spoken. Lectures were not repeat of the readings. Class expectations were realistic. Presentations were clear and tests matched material covered. Very good at answering questions and providing supplemental information.

Sometimes boring, sometimes interesting. If your interest in the subject is low, then it won't increase with him. Extremely tough grader except for the fact that his idea of oral participation is super easy a trained monkey could do it.

He is a good teacher, he tries to liven up the class with little 'humurous' comments but it doesn't work. He repeats things over and over and over again until even the people who are sleeping take notice and write it down. He also reminds us of essays or tests EVERYDAY SINGLE DAY!!, its irritating.

Where did Robert E. Lee go after the Civil War? Well folks -- he went to Indiana State University and continues to teach. You can take good notes in his class if you listen. You need to come to his office if you have questions.
