Comment:
I got good vibes from Russell! Obviously a class with 400 people is not very personal and you do basically teach yourself from the textbook, but the quizzes/tests/assignments are very reasonable and I had a good experience in this class.

Dr. Day had short 30 minute lectures online, which were non-mandatory, but he gave previews about what we would be learning. Tests and quizzes were fair as long as you take time to read the textbook. We had open-book assessments, and he removed a test and two quizzes if you did poorly! But he definitely has a higher grading scale.

I've taken both Psych 100 and 102 from him, both online, and they were my favourite classes both semesters. Professor Day's class, even though very textbook heavy, was a lot of fun. Online we had class meetings to ask our questions twice a week and all of the lectures were pre-recorded. Overall amazing prof, 10/10 would take again!

Dr. Day is a very caring prof as he grades 6/8 quizzes and 3/4 exams. He understands that students are struggling with the online environment and he is very accommodating. I can't think of an issue with Dr. Day as his TA selection is good as well as his quizzes as they are based off the book. His lectures can be dry at times though.

As long as you review the textbook heavily and understand the big ideas from just skimming through lectures youll do great! He is willing to omit 1 major test and a few quizzes and his test are not cumulative. Attending lectures are a choice.

I said it once, and i'll say it again, just read and study the textbook like your grade depends on it and this course will be the easiest A you have ever received in your academic career.

Super boring class, with some interesting chapters from the textbook. Dr. Day is a really nice and accommodating prof, very knowledgeable too. Would take a class with him again, as this class fosters independent learning.

Day seems like a nice guy but his lectures are pretty dry and boring. Lectures and live meetings are not worth attending/watching, just make sure to understand the textbook fully. The tests and quizzes are worth 76 percent of your grade in total, and 2/8 quizzes and 1/4 tests are omitted. Very easy class overall that requires little effort.

Exams and quizzes were open book and based 99% on the textbook. 2/8 quizzes & 1/4 exams with the lowest score were omitted. A very nice prof but I stopped going to lectures because they were unnecessary and recorded. Only a couple of assignments and plenty of time to complete them. Overall, would take another class with him.

Worse prof ever. You have to get really deep into the textbook to earn marks in exams. Go check other profs on these psychology intro courses.

Took this class via remote learning and it was average. Stopped attending live lectures as they really did not help at all for quizzes or exams. READ THE TEXTBOOK!!!!! All quizzes are 100% based off textbook material so read the chapter and do the mind tap and you will be fine. 2 assignments were relatively easy and plenty of time to complete.

Comment:
This course was completely self-taught. Everything in the textbook is fair game, and if you memorize that you're good to go. Quiz and exam questions can be tricky, but lowest mark for each is dropped. Did better on these when I stopped watching pre-recorded lectures and just focused more on the textbook. Live lectures are basically 30min Q&As.

He drops 2/8 quizzes and 1/4 exams (lowest marks) which is really nice! It's a pretty straight forward course. His "narrated shows" are short compared to other classes but he still talks pretty slow so I recommend listening in 1.75x speed. If you study the textbook and watch the lectures at the same time you're golden!

Dr. Day truly cares about his students, especially since he allows for 2 of 6 quizzes to be dropped as well as 1 of 4 term exams! Although his lectures were hard to follow sometimes since they could get long and boring, the textbook will keep you well informed. I highly suggest him as a prof!

I have heard this man talk 4 times max. All I did was study the textbook and I finished with an A in the course. Quizzes and exams were fair with various types of questions. Assignment was straight forward. Love that he drops the lowest exam and quiz marks. Memorization and applying concepts is crucial to succeed in this course!!

Lectures are useless, as long as you read and understand the textbook, you will do fine. He also drops 2 out of 8 quizzes and 1 out of 4 exams which is super nice if you don't understand a certain topic. Day was not much help at all as I taught the entire course to myself but the content is easy. Tests and quizzes combined are 84% of your grade

Dr Day is a great lecturer, even though he says "in terms of" at the end of his sentences. Some of the quiz/exam questions are ambiguous, try not to read too much into them. He gives lots of opportunities to make up marks by dropping lowest exam and quiz scores and giving bonus questions. Entertaining lectures.

Class was fair, especially considering COVID circumstances, he really did his best to accommodate the situation. Classes were important on days where there were iClicker quizzes, but overall test material focused on textbook readings.

He is a great professor. If you go to class and do the work, ask questions in office hours, you're golden. He was so genuinely caring and kind and explained things really well when I went to office hours. If you put in the work and show up to class, you will do well. He is really great at explaining concepts and an overall great teacher/human.

He was really, really good at giving practical and helpful lectures. Prepare to read lots though. Quizzes were highly easy, Midterms were a little difficult but doable to get A's consistently if you don't slack off.
