Comment:
Incoherent lecturer. Discourages class discussion by suggesting disagreement from students would be racist. Glamorizes violence against police. Has his own special version of American history. Activist masquerading as professor. University owes its students better for their tuition, to say nothing of the taxpayer.

He'll be super enthusiastic one day, and the next he'll lecture while sitting at the desk barely talking loud enough to hear. He makes you buy his book, then basically reads parts of it as the entire lecture. Couple options for grading: two 33 M/C exams where the questions are asked weirdly, and if get an 85%+, you can do a project. Don't recommend

Don't buy into the ideas that are being taught just because he is a professor. Professors can be wrong. Doctors used to tell people that smoking wasn't bad for you. Transcend your white guilt. Transcend your ethnic victimhood. Shed the negativity and go forward with an open mind. Question everything, including the ideas presented in this course.

Great class! He talks about a sensitive topic so you must enter into the class with an open mind and understand that he's talking about an oppressive system and not anybody's "momma." Lectures can be boring when he reads from his notes. Only 2 tests (33 multiple choice)DONT DO THE PROJECT. Copy slides, take notes, skim through readings, easy A/B.

The topic was interesting, the information was interesting. But it was very hard to pay attention in class because he would talk in circles frequently and has a very flat voice. He occasionally made funny jokes, but injected little of that life into his lectures. The tests were pretty easy, go to class you don't need to do most of the readings.

Honestly really awful professor. Doesn't care about his students, no participation from students because his class is so dry and boring. He's very rude and opinionated. Never stays on topic of class and class was NOT what I signed up for. Easy exams. Don't do projects.

Comment:
His class on African Americans and Social Protest was meant to be about encouraging activism among students by teaching them the history of the protests. The professor's grading of projects is arbitrary at best, his multiple choices are super easy but unfulfilling and his lectures lack almost any interaction as he reads from notes.

Cazenave seems like a nice guy and the course is plenty interesting. However, the lectures can be painful to sit through (he really does read off of a sheet of paper) and the entire grade is based off of 66 multiple choice questions, some of which are almost too general while others are too specific. I wouldn't take this class again.

Professor Cazenave spends the entire lecture talking about his own views and is rude. Class is extremely hard to sit through because when he does lecture about the material, he reads off of a piece of paper. Tests are insanely easy- a scantron of 50 multiple choice- and his projects are not worth it. Aweful experience overall.

This class changed my life, i took it while the protests for ferguson and eric garner etc, were happening. The textbooks, handouts & his lectures really opened my eyes to racial issues in america. We learn about african americans, asians, latinoa &native americans. he rambles & repeats but means well and really wants us to learn and I did

Would not take again. He is a TERRIBLE professor and it is difficult to sit through a class. He is also rude and tends to generalize when asked questions. Would not take again, try to pick a different professor if you need the sociology classes.

HORRIBLE LECTURER. Cazenave is the worst teacher that I have had at UCONN. He is not only unprofessional but also seems to be ill-prepared for class and essentially goes off topic very frequently. Even though some of his points are quite interesting, the way he presents them cannot be in a worse manner.Do not do the projects/presentation (useless)

Decent professor. I'm taking his Construct of Happiness Class and it's pretty easy. He gives opportunity for extra credit and allows students to choose their own course track. Do the study guide and you'll get a guaranteed A. Light reading and attendance isn't mandatory.

So boring! a class on social construction of happiness actually made me unhappy. He's an easy teacher and enthusiastic about his teaching, except he repeats himself often, talks in circles, spends a lot more time introducing his topics then actually talking about them, and reads from a sheet of paper the majority of the time..

An absolutely terrible, terrible professor. The subject of his course was secondary; glorifying his own ideology at the expense of intellectual honesty was his only objective. I wanted to learn about White Racism, and was instead subjected to relentless anecdotes about the professor's own victimization and eventual apotheosis over the rest of human

I passed this class with an A, and didn't buy the books or attend class, which proves that this teacher only cared about self-promotion and not on the subject matter, which was supposed to be about "white racism" and not about how wonderful Mr.Ca
