I am very good at writing and have NEVER had an issue with it in the past. Then i took Beards class. I absolutely cannot stress this enough, i did not enjoy one second or assignment all Summer. He was never once clear on what he wanted and seemed like he changed his mind almost after each conference we had. I would never recommend taking this class

He can be a bit stange at first, but once you get used to him he is a great professor. Can be a bit heavy on projects and group work, but always gives good feedback and reasonable work load and time.

Thoroughly enjoy his class. A little disorganized but I deal with it easily. He definitely has his own style and I vibe with it really well. I like and dislike how the assignments/homework goes. I feel like it's loose but structured just enough? Anywho, like the guy, definitely would take a class again if presented with the opportunity.

College is a chance to have better one on one with your professor. Professor Beard feels more like a friend who wants you to succeed in the world than a teacher that just gives out assignments. He cares about his students by giving projects that create connections and emails you opportunities that go with what you want to do in life.

His class isn't as structured as other courses may be, instead, he makes it more of your responsibility to make sure you get the assignments done. The other comments say he's condescending, but he's been respectful and helpful in my class with everybody. He cares for your future and will help you find internships or other opportunities.

Horrible experience. Actually took his graduate seminar ENGL 8902 in which he was supposed to teach us how to teach, but instead decided to harrass the class so badly HE WAS REMOVED FROM TEACHING HIS OWN CLASS by administration and replaced mid-semester. Do not take his class.

Learned very little about writing. Learned how to deal with disorganization and confusing schedules, expectations, and group projects. I want to like Dr. Beard, but this class is too unclear. Seems like he makes it up as he goes.

The name may fool you. You may think it would be a class to teach you how to write better. Instead, projects that involve board games, and video games. He is condescending towards his students, he asks for their insight but shuts them down. He doesn't follow the syllabus and is unorganized so you never know what might be due.

Professor Beard is a very good teacher. He's big on getting students to think, which is why he asks hard questions that can be pretty tough. He'll you help no problem if you ask the right questions! Even though he is opinionated and likes to argue with his students, he does so in good fun, and he doesn't intend to be mean.

Class was very un-structured/unorganized. Gives you a syllabus at the beginning of the course with every weeks plan on it, then does not even follow the plan. Unclear directions for all projects required in the class, and will most likely end up failing because of it.

Very opinionated teacher. Loves to argue with his students. I took Literacy, Technology, and Society with him and did not enjoy the class at all. It was a confusing, unclear, and unorganized class.

I haven't had David as an instructor but I can guarantee you that he is the most informed and helpful advisor I could hope for. He is clearly and personally invested in the success of his students. I'm a veteran of college and let me tell you he is the MOST useful person on campus.

David Beard is a nice guy. But he is one of the worst professors I have had so far. He is constantly changing expectations, and I ended up doing a lot of useless work because he would never follow through on things that he said. His emphasis on group work was irritating. Would not recommend.

The worst professor I have ever had in any class. He is very rude and condescending. He does not like to answer questions. He used an outdated syllabus, did not post grades until the very end of the semester.

Good guy. He could be a bit more clear but he's just hard on people to motivate them to do better. If you're having issues just talk to him, he's totally understanding. Overall, I would recommend him. Don't let the other ratings scare you.

Don't take his online writing class if you can help it. He is very disorganized and beats around the bush instead of just helping you. His online posting site is a big time waster and is confusing.
