Comment:
The class was asynchronous, therefore, I did not get to know Professor Syrett. However, he had office hours and was easily accessible if you needed help. You learn everything through readings and watching short videos. Every week, there is a quiz and short lab (application questions). You have to teach yourself a lot, but the class was not too bad.

Meteo 3 is a pretty good course and is taught by a good professor. Most of the info is teach yourself material but Prof Syrett is always accessible by email. The course is pretty simple, just weekly labs and quizzes.

There are pop quizzes weekly & the labs will take a lot of your time. Bill is an incredible guy, so incredible that you'll forget about how hard the class is. I managed to get an A but I definitely worked for it. If you talk to him he is very willing to help & he gives an enormous amount of extra credit (about 200 points worth) This class was great

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU AREN'T EARTH SCIENCE SAVY. tests are just open ended essay questions and he looks for specific detail. no study guide or good preparation is given either before hand. if you do the labs make sure you do them with the TA during office hours and always attend class cause of pop quizzes. not worth the stress of a GE.

Bill is a really cool guy and a fun professor. He makes the class interesting and you definitely learn a lot. The exams are really difficult, but not impossible to do well on as long as you study. This is a fun GN to take, and with all the extra credit is it pretty easy to get a good grade.

One of the most exhausting classes I've ever taken in terms of overall course load, but you really get your money's worth. Bill is an expert and one of the best professors on campus. A little nutty at times but it adds to the class. If you want to learn, you'll gain a plethora of knowledge. Tests are hard and you have to be motivated to succeed.

Bill's sections of the course were always great. Group projects are a big and be ready for a lot of tedious outside class work. He can be a tough grader, but as long as you do your part he is considerate. Hilarious guy and makes it all enjoyable! Overall good guy. I really liked his section.

Read the text, do the labs, study, and do all of the extra credit. This is an intro to meteorology gen ed, but you have to study to get a good grade. Know exact definitions and how they apply to real situations for exams. You will learn a lot. He is a wonderful instructor and is willing to help if you are willing to work.

If you don't like science and need to take a gen ed, DON'T TAKE THIS. My advisor scheduled myself along with a few others in it and it is one of the hardest gen eds I have taken at PSU. Everyone I knew in this class struggled. Bill is super nice and funny, but meteorology is definitely not for those who aren't science oriented.

Bill's sections of 481 were enjoyable. His group projects were fun, if your group was too. Homework could be tedious, but it was very interesting. Good sense of humor; I was never bored during the hour and a half classes. He graded reasonably and did not give anyone a hard time. I hope I have him again at some point.

At first I considered dropping this class because it seemed like a lot of work for a gen ed but Bill was a great teacher and actually made the class enjoyable even though I wasn't the most excited for the topic.

Bill is very engaging in his lectures, despite the fact that most of the class is less than enthusiastic for this relatively difficult gen ed. The course material is simple but it was more work than I wanted to out into a gen ed. Go to class, do all the labs, and go through your notes before an exam and you'll be fine. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. It helps

This guy knows his stuff about the weather. He is so excited to teach his material. Also loves using corny jokes. It's not an easy Gen Ed but if you enjoy the weather and how it works, take this class. Do the extra credit. Quizzes every Friday, labs on Wed. So much opportunity for XC.

Class was interesting and pop quizzes were doable. BUT his tests for an intro level elective class were god awful. His tests are all short answer essays and you must explain in detail everything. Not worth the stress for a gen ed class.

This class was definitely harder than I expected, but extremely doable. I got an A in the class by showing up to class everyday (pop quizzes count for a lot of the total points), by doing every lab, and by doing all the extra credit (extra credit can total one exam grade). Overall, fairly easy class if put at least some effort into it.

Do NOT take this course as a Gen Ed. The tests are ridiculous and you only get two days to complete the labs (not mention they're due on Fridays). If you like science this will be easy otherwise don't even consider it.

Bill is very helpful if you go to his office hours and also is a fair grader. He offered I think 100 points of extra credit, and the labs are fairly easy as well. Pop quizzes and exams can be annoying, but it's still a good class.

If you have half a brain you should have no problem with this class. GREAT teacher. need the textbook for labs. the need to attend lectures because of pop quizzes. class as a whole is a joke: I missed two pop quizzes and still had an easy A. I really don't understand how everybody struggled in the class. Lots of extra credit offered.
