This professor simply cannot teach. She uses slides off of the internet and skips through them assuming you should know all of the content and if you stop to ask a question you might get yelled at and lectured about how you should've known physics before actually learning physics. She isn't understanding of anyone's circumstances and is unprofessio

Tan Yuen is literally horrible. She is quite condescending. The fact that her rating is 1.5/5 and she still manages to teach this course is beyond me. Temple, please do better for your students' sake.

I took Tan my second to last semester of college. By far worst professor I've EVER had. Please avoid her like the plague. Horrible lecturer, very rude, unorganized, if you want to teach yourself for an entire semester then go for it.

Easily the worst professor at Temple. To start off, you can barely understand her because of a huge language barrier. Second, she will embarrass you if you answer her in-class questions wrong. I know physics is a very difficult subject, but she puts in absolutely no effort to make things even slightly easier on her students. DO. NOT. TAKE. HER. !!!

Tan Yuen is a Chinese immigrant and I understand why she is so strict and expects the students to understand everything. I am an international student from China. Most senior Chinese teachers I met in China also just like her in my lifetime. They only expect students to ask hard questions instead of easy ones.

If you love yourself and care about you mental health take anyone but her. Shes literally the worst. She expects you to come into the class already knowing everything there is to know about physics and will degrade you in front of everyone if you get something wrong. I really dont know how she has a job still. Do better physics department!!!!!!!!

I'm writing this before exam 2. I have never been so depressed in my life, this class has absolutely ruined me as a person along with calc. Calling Tan Yuen a professor is an insult to every other professor at Temple. She doesn't teach anything and she will ridicule you for asking questions. DO NOT CHOOSE TAN YUEN AS YOUR PROFESSOR.

Don't even take the course if you've picked her as your professor. She is literally the worse professor I've ever had. You can't understand nothing she is saying and doesn't explain anything that I could understand. I strongly encourage you to take any other professor.

Trust me, you DO NOT want her as your professor. Her lectures are pretty much a waste of time as she does a poor job clarifying physics subject matter. If you want to truly understand the material it is going to have to be on your own time. You will save yourself a lot of time and energy by choosing any other professor in the department.

Do not take her at any cost. Her powerpoints are just screenshots of the book and she doesn't take time to go over any real life examples. Also, when you don't understand something ask a question in class, her favorite response is to give you a broken English response which leaves you more confused and then say, "You have to read and think first"

STAY AWAY FROM TAN YUEN. Granted there isn't any good professor for Physics 1 at Temple, Tan is the WORST. I took physics in highschool and did very well so I personally am not struggling in this class, but if I didn't have that background and khan academy didn't exist, I'd be lost. She loves to solve meaningless proofs without going any concepts

AWFUL, VERY little learning in this class compared to other sections with different professors. Very rude and often ridicules students for asking questions when they don't understand her teaching. I had to work very hard to pass this class, all learning was done on my own/ in PASS sections. I learned more in 50 min PASS section than week of classes

Hard to understand but you can tell she's trying. The class is hard as hell. She often teaches an entire chapter in one class, and yet somehow we are always behind in class compared to the other sections. If you go to all her classes, do all the homework, and go to office hours a few time you'll be fine.

Tan Yuen is THE WORST. Each class was a powerpoint slide that was copied straight from the textbook, so I would spend 3 hours each week in lecture just watching her repeat the book back to me and somehow make it more confusing. Terrible at explaining, hard to understand, and rushes through material. I would give her a zero if I could. Dont take her

Tan Yuen is the reason I am depressed. Temple Universitys physics department is the worst. I respect all of those that worked hard to get their PhD unfortunately they dont have the language skills or teaching skills. Just because youre good in a subject doesnt mean youre good at teaching it.

She's a nice lady, but a terrible teacher. She is confusing to follow during lecture and asking questions does not help. The whole physics department at Temple is terrible. The only nice thing is that the final sometimes gets curved and the course as a whole is curved.

Tan is literally the worst professor i have ever experienced. If i could give her a zero i would. She has zero clue how to teach, she will tell you to do the "right physics" instead of helping. She spends the entire class writing useless proofs on the board instead of teaching useful information. Shes the absolute worst, i beg you not to take her.

Tan-Tan was a poor instructor. She understands physics very well but has no clue how to overcome her accent and language barrier to convey information to students. She has these go to sayings for when people don't understand such as, "do the right physics, get right answer." I went to coordinators weekly tutorial sessions to pass class.
