I am a history minor, and I was expecting to have a great semester because I'm a history junkie, especially U.S. I just love learning and talking about it because it's something I'm genuinely interested in, but Professor Hall just made my semester pretty crappy. He is the worst grader I've ever had, and won't explain what you do wrong. It's stupid.

Worst professor I've had at CMU easily. r. I went to the writing center to have it reviewed and they told me a had a solid A paper. Got it back from him and he gave me an F on it. Did not provide any feedback, just gave me an F due to "time constraints" you had the whole semester planned out before so that makes 0 sense. Hardest grader ever too.

Hardest class I have taken so far and I graduate this year. Very hard grader and is not really clear on what he wants in his papers and exams.

He genuinely tries to make things interesting, but he is a pretty specific grader on the exams. I recommend office hours.

Wouldnt suggest him to anyone. His study guides are pointless. Half the time were watching videos in class. And hes a very tough grader. He marks you down for some of the most pointless things on your exams and paper.

Mitch Hall's class was nothing but lecture broken up with some music and the occasional video. There was only 3 exams for the whole class, and a huge portion of the exam grades come from essays in the exam. Study guides were basically useless. Still a fun class, but needlessly difficult.

This class seemed too good to be true. The only grades in the class were three exams, in which half the points were earned by writing an essay.

This was probably the hardest class I've ever taken at CMU. The class is rather classic in fashion, you get two quizzes, a mid term, a final, and a term paper. If that suits you, then this class is perfect. If you're more laid back in fashion and are just wanting to learn the material without proving your knowledge, perhaps think twice.

Passionate about the topic, but grades extremely hard. Be prepared for a disappointing grade. Very unclear about expectations for the semester's paper. Overall, I would NOT recommend this professor for anyone who has an IQ lower than 140.

I took him for History of Rock and Roll and it was my favorite class ever. I loved it! And what's more he loved it too and that made the class fun. If you have a chance to take this class do it. It's fun, funny and not hard.

Not going to lie, this was one of the most challenging classes i have taken. A lot of reading and a lot of studying. His quizzes are very detailed, so make sure you do the readings. Tests are not impossible. Just make sure you attend class and take notes. Reading the book helps too. Don't take this class if you're not willing to do work.

This was my second class with Dr. Hall, and I liked it even more then the first. Although, I highly suggest an interest in this period if you are thinking about taking this class. Attendance is a must, and take good notes! Tests are very straight forward. The most difficult thing is the final research paper, but you do get to chose your own topic!

Dr. Hall was a good professor. He expects a lot of detail when it comes to essays and wants all events linked together and explained completely. His quizes are not bad at all and he gives really good notes if you listen and go to class everyday. The only bad part is the out dated movies you watch, but even those help to reinforce subject material.

Professor Hall was amazing. His lectures are clear and easy to take note taking to. I looked forward to his class because he was so knowledgeable about what he was talking about that he made it more interesting. He's a good speaker and he even cracks jokes here or there making the class fun. His tests are exactly what you take your notes on.

I found the class to be quite interesting and informative. All the suff you need to know for the -=TESTS=- are found in his lectures and videos that you watch in class. He gives you 10 essays questions to study, 3 on the test, you pick 2. Quizzes come from guides. Great discussion if the students want it, He knows an amazign amout about Vietnam

I was excited to take this class because I love history, but I was very disappointed. The tests are hard and I dont even think he grades them, the GA's do, but he is a nice guy and he obviously knows what he is talking about. If you are willing to work really hard then this is a good class for you.

Great class, dry lectures. He'll pack as much information as he can into each lecture, but the textbooks are more interesting. Every once in a while he'll surprise you with some humor, for example, his "brushes with fame." On Valentine's Day, he played "Wild Thing" as a joke. He'll throw more music at you than you can handle. That's a good thing.

It was an interesting class. You do have to go to lecture to good on the exams..Most of the multiple choice questions come from lecture. The study guide he gives out is not very helpful mainly only for the essay part. Overall the class isn't that bad to go to, it goes by really quick.
