I absolutely loved Jo, she's the sweetest professor. She's very kind and always smiling. She makes Shakespeare really enjoyable and explains his plays very clearly. You have to write three long essays, but they won't be so bad if you give yourself time (not that I did). Loved this class.

Prof. Miller is great. I loved that the class was discussion-oriented. It is 100% possible to get an A. Lack of effort would be the only reason one does not get an A. She is more than willing to help.

Professor Miller gives good feedback on the three papers you have to write, and will let you revise them. Our class read 6 Shakespeare plays and had the option to write a paper on all of them, but she would take the three best grades. The final exam is on the last play read, and another of your choosing. She expects a lot & the class drags on.

Her grading is really unclear and she doesn't tell you beforehand what you need to be prepared for class. A lot of times she would randomly pull up a concept and expect you to know instantly where it is in the book and give the example to the class. She's also unclear about the presentation you have to do. Only take if you have a small class load.

This woman is vile and doesn't belong in this profession. She is very, very rude, falsely accuses students of plagiarism when she has personal vendettas against them, and is overall very, very unprofessional. They really need to fire her for her unethical behavior.

She is okay, but she is not as free and nice as she comes across. I privately explained to her why I didn't have an assignment done, and she called me out in front of the entire class. Very rude! As a teacher, she is easy to understand, but difficult to please. If you are not a Shakespeare lover, I would steer clear from her!

You read the books assigned, write response papers (really short) discouss it in class. She is great, and I think you'll benefit from this class, it will NOT ruin your gpa.

Wow, Jo is fantastic! She never says anything negative about any one's ideas, always listens to what her students think and have to say and tries to expand off of their points. She made me feel great about my ideas and writing. She's very understanding, uplifting and easy to work with. She always makes herself available to help understand concepts.

This class was a breath of fresh air. She was very engaging and made class fun. It was a very vocal class, she asked your opinion every class at least once or twice. Very kind and compassionate. 6 papers and a final project, but 5 of the papers are credit, not credit. Very easy, comments on every paper. Highly recommend.

If you come into this class knowing you're going to act out most of Shakespeare's plays, then you'll be fine. If you're a quiet person who doesn't want to act, you might want to look elsewhere. She loves the work she's teaching and teaches it well, but there will be many awkward moments when acting.

Jo is a GREAT professor! Yes, she expects you to actually read the plays, and yes, she is demanding in her expectations of your writing, but as an English major what do you expect? She is very fair, and I would recommend you turn in early drafts for her comments (always a good idea w/any prof!). I learned a TON in this class, and I loved Dr Miller!

omg, this prof demanded the world. i wanted to analyze the text and make my points, but she also wanted creativity. ??? i was just glad to grasp shakespeare. also, WAY too much group work, not enough lectures. i took this class to hear to expert wax on shakespeare, not to buddy up to kids who don't care and stumble blindly through hamlet together

This class is fast-paced and it is easy to get behind in the reading/writing. She only has two-three papers and you choose which plays you'd like to write on. Turning in drafts are extremely helpful. Not hard to get a B, getting an A takes slight effort.

Prof. Miller was very good at keeping a 3 hour summer class engaging. I really liked the homework assignments, which were different from the standard analysis style, more creative. She gave good feedback on papers, and had us moving around a lot with dramatic performances. Tough grader, very focused on what she wants to see, but worth experiencing.

Great professor for any serious english major. She knows her stuff and is willing to help and encourage her students. If you are looking for an easy A you are looking at the wrong professor but if you are looking for a challenge (and let's face it you are paying for your education and should be!) then this is the professor to choose.
