Comment:
Professor McClure makes the lectures very interesting. He always asks for class participation so get ready to talk in class unless you like awkward silences. The tests are very hard and unless you read all of the assigned readings, you won't pass. Go to his class or you won't pass!

Class discussion after lectures each class makes it easier if you are not up for the high volume of reading. Grading is fair. Be in class and you will learn everything you need. Be prepared to make arguments based on the material.

Great Professor. Genuinely cares about students and is willing to help if you are willing to ask. 2 Tests and 2 Papers. Decently tough grader but not impossible by any means. Read the material and go to class and you'll be fine.

Dr. McClure is the type of professor you envision when going to college. Really smart, interesting lectures, awesomely diverse readings, etc. He is hands down my favorite professor! Tests are challenging, but not bad if you study. I'm only sad that I've taken all the classes he teaches, I wish I could take him for everything.

Professor McClure is awesome. His love of history really shows through and makes the class. If you do most of the readings and put in the effort for papers and tests, it's not a difficult class at all.

Terrible professor. Gives you no outline on what you need to study for the midterm or final. God forbid you have your own opinion while writing a paper because you wont make about a D. Unhelpful and unless you know a ton about religious history you wont pass.

This class was great and interesting, but as a freshman it probably isn't a good idea to take it, because he's super tough and expects you to know what you're doing on a college paper or test (and his tests are essay-based). Also, there is a lottttt of reading!

This guy makes my top 5 best professor list. I learned a ton from a great lecturer and just nice man. His class is tough, but he's a fair grader. If you study, you'll be fine. Really recommend him, especially if you are a history major.

Great history professor! However, take the class only if you are interested in the subject or have a lot of prior knowledge. Lectures are usually interesting but very detailed. The amount of material makes the class difficult. Also, the final exam was difficult because he changed the format so it would consist of 4 essays with nothing else.

If your not a history major or not interested in history a lot I wouldn't recommend taking Prof. McClure. However, if you are, he is EXCELLENT. I only made a B+, but that was simply because it was my first semester of college. His lectures are easy to follow and you virtually don't need to read your HY text, only the readings he goes over in class.

Dr. McClure is a great professor. His lectures are packed with info, and he does talk a bit too fast, but you can always stop him and ask questions. Make sure you have your book and you attend class, or you won't do well. Tests are VERY hard, but he gives partial credit. Papers aren't bad; he's often very complementary of student's writing.

Professor McClure taught me more about history than I've ever learned! He seems to really enjoy teaching. He also really likes it when people participate in discussions. There is a lot of reading for his class and there were only four grades ( two papers, a midterm and final). I would definitely reccomend taking this professor!

I don't see why y'all loved him so much. Yeah he teaches a lot of material, but he does NOT review for finals. In fact, we were still learning new material the class meeting before the final. If you don't go to class every time you're screwed because most of the material on tests has to do with notes. Reading is boring.

Fantastic prof! Learned more in this class than any other. He does cover a lot of material, which you must know for the exams. But, hey, the class is supposed to cover all of Western Civilization, so it's hard to narrow that down too much. His exams are more concerned with overall understanding, rather than dates and random facts. LOVED this class.

I thought Dr. McClure was an awesome professor. Missing a couple of classes isn't a big deal if you can contribute to the discussion when you are there and do well on assignments. I didn't have him until my last semester - I wish I had taken another course with him.
