Comment:
Dr. Mykles is awesome. His class is really hard. I struggled to get a B. If you study hard and have other classes that prepared you for this class you will do fine. Dr. Mykles is a very nice and sociable guy. He makes the honors option for this class a research paper 15-20 pages in length but understanding if you can't get to that many.

Comment:
He makes this class unnecessarily difficult. Notes are on an overhead. He requires you to buy 80$ supplemental notes. He doesn't explain whats going on he only lists steps and enzymes. Do not expect to understand the subject at the end of this class. Expect to have memorized a bunch of diagrams which are ultimately useless unless you are premed.

His teaching style is to put up overhead images of cells, then goes over roughly 30-40 and expects you to memorize them and he picks 2 to be on his 14 page test. Unless you are planning to be a doctor that has everything memorized and you dont care WHY things happen. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS, he teaches the class as a show dont tell. Tests=insane GL

The most amazing teacher ever! He forces his students to learn by giving them the hardest exams I've ever taken. If you are serious about learning biology, take him. If not, don't, because if you don't devote your semester to his class you will fail.

If you are good at memorizing lots and lots of information take mykles class. You will learn nothing except how to memorize hundreds if pages of poorly explained diagrams; make sure to write word for word everything he says, understanding the material is not enough. He is a nice guy but one of the worst professors i have ever had.

Comment:
Tests are ridiculous. Grading is worse. He will take some trivial detail he talked about for 5 min and make it an essay worth 10-20% of the test. Even if you understand the topic he will give you 50% credit on your essay if you don't repeat it exactly the way he said it. Mykles' class sucks. By the way he looks and acts like exactly Ned Flanders.

He's a nice guy to talk to but he really enjoys sticking it to the student. He's gotten better about answering students' questions in class but it's true that he wants you to know EVERYTHING. Don't believe him if he says that it's not going to be on the test.He is very arrogant when he teaches. In fact he even said he was smarter than God.

When they say you have to know everything, they mean it. Every detail on the diagrams, every word in lecture. He'll tell you that you don't need the book- that's BS. He often belittled students that asked questions, and then complained that no one responded in class. Curves to a D- ouch.

Hardest class I've taken, but I feel like I came away from it with so much knowledge. Know everything he says or writes in lecture, be able to draw every diagram. Helps to study with a buddy so you don't miss details. TIME CONSUMING.

Nice guy, can usually negotiate points a bit, but insane amounts of detail. Know EVERYTHING for tests (not joking...EVERY piece of class). Tests are often 50 pages of diagrams and 20-40 pages of class notes. Study old tests. You will leave tests feeling stupid. Study all the time, you MIGHT pass.

Oh my goodness, you've got to be kidding. Rediculously hard. But a nice guy, and very helpful if you see him in office hours. But you definately need to devote 5-10 hours a week preparing for his class on a non-test week. Eeeek!!!! Vet grad students tell me it's the hardest class they've had.
