Worst professor I have ever had. He is very unorganized, during his lectures he can go from one time period to the next and his notes are all over the place. His tests are not what we have learned in class as well. Would not recommend taking him.

Prof. Gardella is great. He can get a little flustered sometimes, but he's so amazing. He's a cool person and although his lectures were long, they were really informative. There were a lot of pop quizzes, which was tough, but overall I felt that I learned a lot. Taking him again for sure.

His class is tough and worth it. He is very caring about all of students and really likes to talk. I would take him again. There were some papers and a research paper, but the class was worth the work,

I've taken this guy for 3 semesters--it's been wild. Intro to WR was eh but his seminars are LIT. He brings snacks (only to seminars) and you just go in once a week and hear his crazy (in a good way) insight for 2.5hrs. Then some papers. He's tough but come add to Mville students' collection of "outrageous things Gardella has said in class."

Professor Gardella was very interesting to listen to and he is VERY knowledgeable on the subject. Coursework is challenging but very doable. Take good notes and you're set. He's pretty strict about missing class, being on your phone and walking out during class, which isn't that big of a deal. Other than that it's a very interesting class.

Really knowledgeable professor. He had make up tests that counted fully, and anyone could take them regardless of what grade they got originally. Do NOT take out your phone or get up during the middle of class. If you have something to throw out, do it at the end. He will CALL. YOU. OUT. and its embarrassing for everyone.

this class does fulfill the Oral requirement. he picks you to present but gives you hints at what to look at, and he does so with the exegesis as well. not many tests but pop quizzes, just make sure your reading. i suggest getting the required bible it really helps (notes in itself)

He is the definition of a lecture class, he talks about the reading that you were supposed to read prior. he goes into depth but reading definitely helps. he is a really good professor but he HATES people who text or dont pay attention. very informative class and really opened my eyes

an extremely knowledgeable man, author of 4 religion books. ask anything about religions and he'll literally answer like a machine. take good notes and you'll get at least B on tests. 3 essays/year about how religions handle conflicts, can only use 3 books that he requires as sources. hate texting in class

A good professor, knowledable about the subject and generally friendly. He came late to the class a few times and sometimes focused on a select group of people instead of everyone, but far from a bad professor. I don't understand all the heat he is getting on this site. He did not seem overly critical of religion, nor too hard on students.

he really enjoys making people look like idiots in his class. he'll usually pick one or two at the beginning of the semester and then continuously pester them. he comes off as nice, but he's really a gigantic buttface.

Professor Gardella is a brilliant teacher with a wealth of knowledge in the field of comparative religion. These reviews that find him horrible probably need to consider something a bit easier than Academia where they can be spoonfed rather than be expected to think.

Comment:
Absolutely terrible. He unknowingly (or maybe he does know) mocks pretty much every religion except Islam, even though he's apparently a Christian married to a Jewish woman. He asks us questions based on the books but never tells us to actually read them. He never checks his emails, is completely disorganized, and is in general a terrible professor
