Get ready to waste your weekends away writing papers for a teacher who doesn't even take the time to learn your name, even in a class of 20 kids. Prepare to read every night and work hard on your essays because there are not many graded works. I personally thought that she is very offensive and grades objectively so learn where she stands early on

This professor is great! She's funny, strict but not intimating. Nor does she make you feel stupid. I was afraid of this class because of the reviews but it's not as hard as described (I'm no history buff either). TO PASS: Read, Attend, Participate. (RAP :D) Also, UNDERSTAND the topics (YOU DON'T HAVE TO MEMORIZE THINGS THAT WILL GET YOU NOWHERE).

Not sure how all these reviews are bad. This class was so much fun. The professor definitely knew what she was talking about and occasionally is humorous. The class was a cakewalk.

You have to do a film and book review plus a bio paper. the reviews are both 4 pages long and the paper 10-12 for my proposal she said it was good and gave me a B+ yet when the draft was due a few weeks later she said I'm going to fail and that I should of changed my topic because she told me it was bad and I was like than why did you give me a B?

Rambled on about things that didn't pertain. A lecture really isn't needed for this class.

BORING. She's very into what she talks about but it is SO BORING. Some stuff was interesting but she tells you when it gets boring. Her midterm and final were hard. Her tests are easy IF you study & remember when they are. Got a C on the final & studied a lot (maybe not hard enough?). Thought I'd like this class but def didn't.

I had no interest in the class but this professor changed that. I loved the class even if it was a lot of reading. She was very helpful and made me feel comfortable when everyone else in the class was silent. I would recommend her just know that you have to work very hard.

I actually really liked this professor. I enjoyed her sense of humor and how passionate she was about this type of history. This class was pretty difficult though and a lot of reading, you need to study your butt off to pass.

Rudest professor I have ever had at CSUB. She makes you feel dumb if you do not know an answer. she expects you to practically memorize the textbook. Would never recommend her.

professor extremely knowledgeable about her studies. On multiple occasions she‘s traveled to the locations she study thoroughly and teaches.. The book she chooses for her course material gives her students insight on culture, political, economic, and social norms pertaining Japan. I recommend this class in case you plan on visiting Japan

Must have a perfect memory to remember the exact words this professor says in class, the information will appear on the test and is not in any of the text books used in the course. Will not allow recording devices. Rude to some students. Has let the title of Phd. go to her head and places herself aloof to the students. Do not use this professor.

this class is REALLY DIFFICULT! Wouldn't recommend. u must read the entire book to pass the class. She'd assign 2 chapters a day & each chapter was about 80 pages. Midterm &final are mc from 4 quizzes & other books assigned. The rest is a essay topic & ID's that She picks randomly. she wants precise answers so study hard! She knows her history!

This class was very boring. It was organized by topic rather than chronologically which made it very hard to relate things to each other. There was a lot of reading which was probably more helpful than the lectures. The powerpoints were pointless. She admitted that her kids made some of the slides. This was a very boring class. It was hard to get myself excited about this class

Failed it at first. I'm taking it again to restore my GPA. Her "lectures," which are actually provided by students, do not prepare you for the difficult exams. Even the good students struggled to get a C. She never passed work back on time and didn't show up to our final. Final grades are due today. It's now 8pm and I still don't know if I passed!

She expects you to cite sources in the midterm. Even though all your sources are either from the supplemental readings and text. She's really optimistic about teaching this subject and has very high expectations.

This teacher expects you to know th history like she does. First day she tells you to study for a QUIZ! She is really rude and does not help much. Even reading the material does not assure you a passing grade. I would not reccomened his teacher at all.

Awful awful awful. Could not stand her. I'm pretty sure more than half the class failed. Her powerpoints are useless, her lectures are all over the place, she is NOT helpful (does not return emails), etc. I could go on for days. Will be avoiding her classes as best I can.

She is very spontaneous. She doesn't budget lecture time, so some concepts are overemphasized, while others are ignored. Re-wrote the syllabus three times because she kept falling behind. Grading is flip-floppy. Doesn't use powerpoint- just shows pictures of old propaganda posters. Most of my notes were just her sidetrackings.
