Comment:
Professor Cohen is very intimidating but one of the best in the accounting program. Her lectures are a bit disorganized and you need to spend hours outside class trying to learn the material. Read the chapter before she lectures on it and you won't fall behind. If you put in the work you can get an A but it is a lot.

As usual, there's an intense group project. Pray you get a good group. Study, do the homework, participate. DO NOT come to class late. Don't be alarmed when she doesn't hesitate to express her disdain with your class performance. She will.

Cohen is an intimidating woman stemming from her incredible knowledge of the topic area & confidence in the class room which reassures you as a student in lecture but perhaps also discourages seeking outside help. She presents the material very clearly but does not spoon feed you anything & makes you work for it if you want to learn. Good luck

One of the worst teachers I had while in the accounting program. However she is a required teacher so theres no avoiding her. So here is some advice: -Go to class, she doesnt post notes online, and she'll hold it against you for missing -Take the best notes possible, she doesnt teach out of the book so you have limited study material

Professor Cohen is brilliant. She teaches one of the most difficult courses in the program & she knows her stuff. Pay attention in her lectures because the material is difficult to follow. Participating helps to supplement your learning. Assignments are hard but helpful in preparing for exams. She's a fair grader and wants her students to succeed.

Cohen reminds me of McGonagall from Harry Potter... will make you feel like a complete idiot if you act like one, but definitely cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. Her grading scale is very generous, and she's one of the most knowledgeable professors in the program. I'm not a tax person and I feel lucky to have had her.

She's tough, but she's really good. Best teacher in the whole program. Really knows her stuff. If you don't believe me, believe the lists of awards she has received. She can be intimidating but she's actually really nice and very approachable. If her classes weren't all required for the program, I'd highly recommend taking them. Boss status.

Great teacher, she will break it down and make something you dont get at all by yourself really easy as she explains it in class. Dont miss lecture not because you will have to spend four times as much time trying to figure it out on your own than you would have if you just showed up. Very challenging but very fair and more than do-able.

Somewhat cold & unfriendly. Seems easily aggravated. Once chided me after class for getting up to go to the bathroom. Overall not the worst professor I suppose. Although certainly not what I call inspiring either. I have now worked in a public accounting firm on tax and I have subsequently found the lessons I learned from her class very useless.

I have had Professor Cohen three times throughout my college career and she is by far my favorite professor in the accounting program. This class takes a more real world approach, using presentations of students and different professionals to speak about current issues, most of which affect all of us. Definitely take as an elective in the spring.

Different teaching style but once you get used to it, it is very clear. All the work and problems given are relevant so do the work and you wll be fine. Also shes extremely sarcastic, which can be very entertaining. Loved this professor.

One of the best professors at UB by far. Keeps the material on a level that is easy to follow as far as tax goes but, it is a course that is definitely determined by the amount of work you put in. Do what she assigns and go to class and you'll do fine.

Her MGA201 classes are really easy. Got an easy and I didn't even touch the book, except for doing the homework. It's another story to her MGA403 class. Her notes are horrible. I will be coming back and give her rating for MGA403 class in the future. Those of you who complains MGA201, wait till you take tax.

Her notes suck, but she is very clear and explains things well and the homework does help. The project is a giant pain in the ass and is by far the worse part. The tests are fair but hard multiple choice.
