Loved the course- learned a lot and got an A. Offers extra credit with SONA, and provides chapter outlines as well as sample study guides...other than taking the course FOR YOU, he really does give you all the aides to get an A! Read the chapters, take the practice exams till you get 100~ many of the exam questions come from it~ you will enjoy it!

Dr. Gillen is a great teacher, I took him online. He will not give away grades, but if you do Disussion boards, extra credit surveys which are essay. You study for tests by taking mandatory practice tests, but the test questions basically come off these practice test. Not an easy class, but not too hard :) I recommend him, good teacher !

I have had him as a teacher for both Intro Psyc and Social Psyc, and he is great! He is funny and intelligent and his class is very straight-forward. There are tests and online reviews for them, as well as the text and notes that he goes over in class, so if someone does fail in his class, they must have half a brain!

I would not take Professor Gillen again. The format of his online class was problematic and needlessly tedious. I did not like having to score at least 80 on practice tests before taking actual exams. I could have lived without the nuanced and verbose exam questions. I did enjoy the discussion board questions--I learned the most from these.

Enjoyed His Class. He was caustic at times, just part of his personality, it made dynamics interesting. Supportive of non-traditional students. His on-line reviews were a way to master content. Easy A for motivated students. I would take him again.

He is a knowledgeable and funny guy. You do have to teach yourself, but that's the way to actually learn and pass all the tests and exams. Read before class and come to class to review and get extra credit for attendance! There is the online work that is required, but it all prepares you for the tests, like I said. I got an A :)

STAY AWAY, I REPEAT, STAY AWAY FROM GILLEN! this class was absolutely horrible. His tests are hard (class average was usually a 60) and test questions were extremely wordy.gillen is crazy about his "code of conduct." he will stop class and waste 15 minutes so he can chew you out for not covering your mouth when you yawn. DO NOT TAKE.

Very hard, if you are not a good test taker. this class has killed my gpa because the lack of test preparation from him and and you pretty much have to teach yourself, i dont recommend him, unless you take online version.

I agree with the comment below. He is a terrible teacher. Yes he can be funny sometimes but i feel like everything is jumbled nothing really makes sense i havent learned anything from him and the tests are hard to understand and the 4 tests are the only grades you get so you have to do well on them to do well in the class which is impossible

I signed up for his class based on these ratings. I have no idea why he is rated so high. Stay away from his class! Too many rules and he really pushes HIS personal code of conduct on you. Sporadic powerpoint notes, and doesn't seem to completely relate to the chapter. Funny guy but horrible teacher. Class average on exams were around the low 60s.

Class was a drag most of the time, sumtimes funny. I never paid attention, sat in the back. Subject is really interesting. Do practice tests until u get a 100, they take about 3hrs a ch to get em all right. If u can get 100's, you will be fine on his tests 85%ish. Study notes for an A. Attend each class for extra points. Definitions are important.

This Course Is A Must! Extremely Interesting, Professor is Entertaining, Relatively Easy Material, Content is Relative and Helpful to Real Life. This one is worth taking. Loved the Professor! (would have gone to class even if there wasn't extra credit in it for me)

Awesome professor. My favorite this semester. Online class is easy, though his TA was lame and graded unnecessarily harshly based on her mood. Tests are closed-book, but the pre-tests help A LOT. Would highly recommend him. Great personality.

This was a Online class via Teletechnet. 10 Writing assignments were from easy to challenging. Tests (4) combined multiple chapters. Pretests are very helpful along with other resources to study and prepare you for the exams. I highly recommend doing them.... often. It wasn't the easiest course but life-long skills are learned!!

Awesome Professor. Gives extra credit on tests if you attend each class prior to the exam. Most answers come the practice quizzes so take those until you get a 100. Basically attend all classes and do well on the quizzes and you will get an A

DO NOT TAKE HIM! Complete waste of 3 hours. Tests do not match what he teaches in lecture. I literally learned nothing from him. I had a freakin' 4.0 before taking him. Doesn't care about students as long as he's getting paid (tenure). If you HAVE to take social psych, take his online version!!

he is a complete jerk. His class is really easy though. He has one of those love him or hate him personalities. Dont bother asking for help, but u shouldnt need help. He wastes class time with stupid stories. He doesnt usually take attendance.
