Comment:
The previous commenter might have indicated that the story about riding 50 miles with cracked ribs was in reference to "persistence," a VIA character strength that was a key part of the course. Stewart was actually poking fun at himself to show that too much of any trait might be dangerous. Obviously this person missed the point.

There is something WRONG about this guy, that is, something not all there, like his interest in you is temporary and merely to help him feel good about himself

He's a good teacher and his lectures aren't terrible. Some of his references may go over your head though. Class is easy but the tests are hard to do well on unless you study all of the possible questions and are able to put down everything you know about whatever the question is asking you while being able to tie it in to another topic.

Great class, the best I've had at OU! Tests are not that hard if you read the text and listen to lectures. I guess they do seem impossible for those who never attended lecture. He clearly indicates what you need to know to answer each essay. Wonderful professor.

very tough teacher but if you figure out a study method that works for you, you'll feel proud of the grade you earn. the info needed to know for the tests is overwhelming. i recommend using flashcards.

Very intelligent & I thought he was a great teacher. Gives potential test questions & MAKE SURE you connect each with a related concept (there are 4 essay tests & 1 written project). Available to help! He DOES grade by if you know the material. Curves at end of semester. A good grade is NOT impossible to get - just have to study & do the questions

He seemed great at first but as soon as the first test scores came in that quickly changed. He grades by if he likes your answer or not, not by content. Even if you know the material inside and out and he doesn't like how you worded it- it affects your grade. At first 70% of the class was failing! Good thing is he's approachable.

This professer is knowledgeable on what he teaches. you get your test questions at the beggining of the semester. (and they are all essay) each test has 20 questions possible that you have to know and memorize which could be a paragraph or one page long, and he only pics 4 of them. so its really hard to know what you have to study for

This is the first time Professor Stewart has taught Positive Psychology and it seemed like he has been doing it all his life. The course was wonderful. In all my years as a college student I have never had a more meaningful class. Take this class from Stewart!

Clearly the best in the department in teaching statistics. More importantly, he is available every evening, every weekend, almost all the time to help you if you need it. It is amazing that he gives so much of his time to help students learn this material.

He is always prepared for class, and is in the classroom a half hour before class starts. He stays after class to answer questions and continues answers questions every day and night via email...including weekends. Any student who does not do well in his class is simply not trying. The negative ratings other students left are totally ridiculous

Dr. Stewart is a wonderful professor! He's incredibly knowledgable and his lectures are practical/useful. DO NOT MISS CLASS! DO THE HOMEWORK! If you avidly complete the homework assignments, the tests won't seem impossible. People who gripe about PSY 251 are just lazy crybabies...it's not an impossible course - you just have to try hard!

He was totally willing to take the time to help me understand the material. He is always available in office hours and was very helpful. I worked hard and aced the final. In fact, many people got A's on the final so consider that when you read the other reviews.

He is alright. He needs to explain material clearer for students who are not adept at statistical processes. I had little trouble understanding the material, since I am a math major. He gives hard pre-test assignments that need to be answered in a short response essay format. The problem sections on his tests are weighted very heavily.

This teacher is the reason I cant get a degree in Psychology! I cant understand how he is the head of the department when he dosent give a damn about the students or the subject! DO NOT TAKE HIM! Especially for 251! Unless you want to fail and rip out all your hair for the lack of clarity!

This is the most arrogant professor I've ever had. I was afraid to ask questions.I wouldn't be surprised if the 2 good comments made about him were written by him. I can't think of anyone who would give this arrogant man a good rating. If he does not enjoy teaching, why bother? It is NOT doing anyone any good to have a professor that hates teaching!
