Took her seminar class, essentially be prepared for a lot of homework and participation every class. She is very experienced and a solid art historian. I would recommend her if you are passionate in art history, I would not recommend if you are looking for an easy A.

You have to memorize a ridiculous amount of information. she will help you if you meet with her, but don't take this class unless you absolutely have to. Lots and lots of quizzes. Pop quizzes too

Professor O'Brien is very passionate in what she discusses especially in ART 1C. This course requires so much writing because it is a art history class. I do recommend this course to be taken just to fulfill the GE's,but for those that may struggle in writing ART 1B may be a better option.

She's a pretty stern professor, but is kind too. She assigns a lot of work, and a LOT of reading, so be ready for that. Also, she is absolutely a communist and likes to subtly push that type of thinking into her course in order to make you sympathize. Don't be a sheep, and don't be taken in by this common university tactic.

Great teacher, great subject. A very important class for everybody to take, regardless of your major. She's a tad quiet, but very respectful of everyone's opinions. Make sure to sit towards the front and participate in discussions, and she will love you. Be respectful of her (don't use phones!) and she'll be one of your favorite teachers.

I had Professor O'Brien, and can say that the class was very interesting. She does give quizzes almost every class, but they are fairly simple-name a painting, year, and describe. She allows you to do unlimited extra credit papers, and helps you get a good grade. You don't need the book, but do show up to class. It was a great class!

Interesting topics if you are interested in art. There aren't many assignments but it isn't difficult to do well if you pay attention and take the time to learn about the material. Lectures were mainly powerpoints. Lots of memorization. She talks about a lot of interesting points in the artworks but lectures can be lengthy.

Be aware: 3 unit class is 9-12 hours MINIMUM homework. Lots of reading, writing and typing for this Writing Intensive. Be prepared to work hard. Be prepared to study. Be prepared to research all semester. She is very accessible by e-mail and office hours. Take advantage of this. Work harder than you ever have before, and you will get the A.

Wish I would check the teacher here before taking the class! Now it's too late. I love art, but she sucks all the fun out of it. A lot of studying, and often doesn't pay off, she is very hard grader. Quizzes almost every week, and on top of that a lot of writing, and it has to be perfect, or C is the nights you get. BORING class!

STAY AWAY!!! It is too much for a GE course. She could care less if you aren't an Art major. She talks down to non art major students so be very careful. I made the mistake of not doing any research before adding on to her class. Taking this class with her will be my biggest regret ever.

Okay, so a lot of you are looking for an "easy" class. One of those where you attend the class and take two finals. This class is not the case. You will have 12 hours of homework a week. There is a thesis paper. You have weekly quizzes. You will have to take notes. Work hard, study hard, ask questions. She holds true to her office hours.

The professor is really nice and helpful. but it is just too much for a ge course. you will need to study about 30 art works and you need to memorized; the title, author, what period. medium and the signifance of 1 piece of art work every week for quizzes. and she only choose 3 for the quiz hard! no hw, gives extra credit. and 1 research paper.

If your looking for a boring class, this is the right place for you. There is no feeling of enthusiast and engagement towards her lectures. In a classroom with a size 100+ students, she has a very low voice. There are quizzes given every week. The Final is very hard! It contains 40 art works BUT only 5 will be used. She also grades hard!

If you have no interest in the subject and only need units I'd advise you to take something else because the class can be demanding and her voice is so soothing that it can be hard to stay awake. She allows you to skip the final (which is incredibly difficult) if you average an 8/10 on the weekly quizzes. Research paper was easy.

Do NOT take this class just for general Ed. You have weekly quizzes that reQuire a lot of memorization. Very strict and hard grading. Dont miss her claSs, cause it will count against you, and she says talk to her she is understanding, but shes not. I would NOT take a class with Her again!!!

She really knew her stuff and the class was pretty easy if you showed up and payed attention. Quizzes every week on the material but they are really simple and she drops you worst one. If you get at least an 8 average on the quizzes you don't have to take the final which is really hard. Sit in the front and show up, its easy.

Really boring class. Don't need to read the book, just use the information from the lectures she gives in class. Term paper is easy. Final will be hard, but if you pass with an eight or higher on all of your quizzes you are exempt from it.
