I would highly suggest taking a class with Proctor. His genuine love for Italian culture is amazing to learn and hear about. Tests are quite easy and you should earn an A

I knew I wanted to take Italian before going to Conn but honestly Proctor is the reason I decided to continue with it and the reason I am an Italian Studies major.

He drones on and on and on about Italy without saying anything interesting sounding utterly pretentious and as an advisor will only ever talk to you about how you need to major in Italian. He seems to have no ability to teach and no interest in his students.

He's definitely in love with Italy! He likes showing Italian movies and photos in class all the time! A very nice man, but when it comes to the actual language, you have to be willing to teach yourself a bit.

Proctor is inspirational. He's a great prof b/c he's fluent in Italian, but not a native speaker, and he really understands what it takes to learn a language. He's VERY invested in his students' growth and success. He's approachable. He tells true, funny stories w/ good life lessons. His REALLY positive attitude makes class enjoyable. Take a class!

He's in love with Italy. That's great, but he wants everyone to love it just the way that he does, so sometimes he will advise you to take courses that have to do with Classics and Italian Studies when it's really not in your best interests. He's not a very good adviser when you have other fields of interest.

I've had 3 classes with Proctor and I dread the semester I don't have him teaching me! He is an absolutely amazing professor who will bring the subjects to life. Intro to Italian can get dull if you're not that into it, but I still loved the class. Also, TAKE HIS DANTE CLASS. It will change the whole way you look at life. He's amazing.
