Tough subject ... but great professor, caring & engaging ... uses great examples to make class interesting & memorable ... I took this course a long time a ago but what I learned from prof. Lawrence has helped me tremendously & made life-long friendships from study groups we had for this course.

Loved the old Lakers vs. Clippers games analogy to drive the pouts home ... one of the best & most influential professors I've ever had ... also serendipitously met my BFF in that class 17 yrs ago AND we're still friends! Tough subject but is fair with grades. Not mandatory to attend but if you don't ... don't be surprised if you don't get it.

Very hard class if you don't show up! The lectures are invaluable because the textbook is useless, its too dense. He gets all the info across with tons of in class examples. Nice guy too.

You will not regret taking 361B with Lawrence. I came in to 361B barely understanding 361A, but he was able to get me up to speed. He's funny and knows how to teach this hard subject in a way that is easy to learn. Let's you use everything during his tests (Excel, Powerpoint, book, and notes). I wish I had taken him for 361A.

He is funny, not mean. I think some just don't get his humor. It's an extremely difficult class. Just study PP slides and sample exams. One project, which I suggest you visit him during office hours or form a study group for the project.Don't buy textbook- never used it! Offers huge curve!

Great professor. This is a hard subject but how can you go wrong when he gives you sample exams, open notes/book for exams, tons of notes, access to everything including powerpoints, solutions to problems, etc on his website. I took him for 361A and have signed up to take him for 361B. I think students blame the teacher for their own laziness.

Unless you're a Stats major, this subject can be difficult. He does a good job at breaking difficult concepts down into simple, real life situations. His tests are long and difficult. If you're a slow test-taker like me, an hour won't be enough time. Bright side, his grading scale. D's in most classes are C's in his.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. you will waste your time and money. He is arrogant and mean. He is very hard grader, and goes way too fast during lecture. Tests are nothing like sample tests. one group project was nonsense. no extra credits. He loves to fail students. Sush a waste!

Professor Lawrence is such a great teacher and I strongly recommend him. I took him for both 361A & B and he was a lot of help. Stats is not an easy subject, but Lawrence does his best to help his students. Also the grading is fair since 60% is a C. If you go to most of the lectures and read his powerpoints it will be easier than it seems.

I think this was his last semester, but if he teaches again take his class. Stats isn't typically easy, but he does a good job at explaining. His grading is very generous as well. I bombed the first test, but aced the other 2 and got a B

This guy moves at the speed of light. Difficult class. Would not recommend. Makes it sound easy, fails or gives D's to a lot of people. Tests are not like sample tests like he makes out, be careful. I wouldn't recommend. Forget taking him for summer school, even worse.

Really good teacher for a really hard class. A lot people fail this class, but this guy uses excel for EVERYTHING. If you don't know how to use excel, you shouldn't be in college! Open notes, open book, open everything! But you still need to study if you want to suceed. And don't rely on the sample exams, he'll change it up to something totall

The tests are really long, never enough time to finish. Don't think you can get away with not studying just because it's open book. There is one project that's pretty easy. He's a nice guy, but the exams are difficult.
