It was a living hell having him as a lab professor. When he writes lab instructions on how to do labs on the board he always writes in cursive and has messy handwriting. I asked him to write neatly in fine print. He laughed at me when I said that just to upset me. This guy is a sociopath that gets pleasure out of seeing his students fail. HE SUCKS!

Dr. Stanionis is a good teacher. He will make you earn your grade. I took Computer Music Systems with him. As a music minor and audiology major, even I found the class hard. I didn't put in a whole ton of effort, but if you do what he requires, you will get a good grade. This class however is outdated with the material he uses. needs to be updated

Delayed Gratification is the only way to succeed with Professor Stanionis. You must read your textbook with a sense of urgency even though easy homework and quizzes and even the midterm exam make it seem unnecessary. Do your homework even if it's not being collected. Believe that all of your textbook-reading will pay off. Delayed Gratification.

Professor Stanionis expects you to read but deceives you by bad-mouthing the textbook. Physics majors who do all the homework get a "C". If you do all the homework and read the textbook, then the highest you can get is a "C+". Non-Physics majors who do all the homework get a "B"; if you also read the textbook the highest you can get is a "B+".

The Final Exam is rigged for everyone to fail. The Final is 60% the last 4 of 19 chapters which he glazed over in the last week. Lesson Learned: Read the entire textbook in the 1st 3 months and attempt the 3-5 hardest problems. The other 40% is terms from the textbook which he tells you not to read. Lesson: Ignore him. Read it anyway.

He is an intelligent man but a very poor professor. He does not care about you/ your understanding of the course material. He purposefully gives midterm and final exams that are designed to be failed and as he says "are only testing materials not learning materials". You can get an A on all your assignments and still not get an A in the course

Avoid at all costs. Stanionis uses bait and switch tactics. Before teacher evaluations he gives everyone false hope by easy quizzes and homework . Since teacher evaluations lock before Final Exams, he is free to fail everyone with a test made mostly of the last few chapters he rushed through in the last week and doesn't grade homework on. Avoid.

Stanionis does not pull his weight. Fails everyone on purpose to keep his class sizes small and forces physics majors to quit. Nearly all students lose scholarships due to his class. He brags about trashing GPA's.

Stay away from Stanionis. He does not teach. He wastes months telling stories then rushes through the last chapters. His easy quizzes are made to lure students away from working hard, then he gave a final exam so hard that noone passed. Most people learned more from books than from his class. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Avoid Stanionis. Encourages everyone to not read at all. Stanionis does not teach how to do the problems while he wastes time telling stories about rich former students who failed his class. His quizzes are mostly easy calculator problems: plug in the numbers, get the answer. His Final is so hard, the best students didn't come close to passing.

Wastes the first 3 months telling stories covers 15 chapters then rushes through the last 4 chapters in a week. The Final was more than 60% on the 4 chapters he rushed through. He gives a 4 hour final exam but you have 50 minutes to do it. He gives easy plug-in problems for homework & quizzes then gives a final exam so hard noone scored even 20%

This teacher rigs the course so everyone will fail the Final Exam. Does NOT teach. Wastes class time with "inspiring" stories bragging about students who became wealthy despite failing his class. Cost an entire class their scholarships by tanking their GPA's. Put entire class of Senior Biology and Chemistry majors in jeopardy of not graduating.

The class is basically examples and homework. The homework makes up the bulk of your grade. There is a midterm, but its impossible and you will most likely get anywhere between a C and a F. If you don't do it his way you WILL NOT pass. However, if you learn to use his examples in class as guides its not impossible to do well.

I would never recommend this teacher/class to anyone. He doesn't explain the labs so you're basically on your own. He is an extremely tough grader to the point where hE'll take off points for not using a ruler in your diagrams. The only easy part is the quizzes/tests because the questions are from the textbook. YOU WONT PASS WITHOUT THE TEXTBOOK!

He was probably the worst professor I've ever had. He wrote the textbook and therefore he thinks everything in it is GOLD. He'll tell you the "right answers" for the chapter questions if you as about them but then if you use the same right answers on the test he marks them wrong. Horribly long and boring lectures. You won't survive without the book

He doesn't seem out for the student's best interests and has an attitude that needs to be fixed. Seems he pretends to not hear you when you call out to him for help in labs and gets upset when he has to help you because the technology is outdated and/or won't function properly. Class is great. Sadly, he's the only one that teaches it. Avoid.

The only reason I have an A is because I took AP Physics C. For all grades, format is scrutinized unnecessarily. Wanted to do a problem through a different method, he threw down my idea, saying his was better. Physics isn't a one-way subject. Additionally, people are late sometimes, no need to be excessively rude. Yes too many stories (repeated).

anyone who thinks he is a bad teacher simply does not want to put in the hard work required for almost any science major. dr. stanionis is a great teacher and can explain even tho most difficult of subjects. if you are complaining about his class it is probably because you want an easy A doing little to no work.

Stanionis is a real scholar. Those of you who do not know what it is to be taught by a real scholar will not appreciate how fortunate you are. Physics at Iona is on the map and students get into great graduate shools because of professors like Stanionis. Don't be so fast to judge him and maybe some of his intellect will rub off on you.

Idk why everyone here hates Dr. Stanionis, of course he talks about crazy things all the time, but they're usually really interesting and relate to the college. If you can't learn from him than you obviously can't understand math or physics from any professor and need to have everything handed to you. The course is meant to be challenging. Grow up
