Comment:
Although it could be a bit of a drier lecturer than other courses I have taken, Cameron is still a solid choice. He is a great choice if you are planning to improve your writing (provides a lot of feedback) and generally cares about his students. It is heavy reading though ( about a play a week) so you have been warned.

This man is dull. He talks endlessly about 'assay bags' and other things that are completely useless to the course. I think that he is a nice man, but not a gifted prof, as others seem to have believed. His class was boring and endless. Many students complained that he just went on about things that weren't related to Shakespeare & Co.

Best prof. For one, if you miss a class, it isn't going to make a difference for his exam, which can be brutal but if you know the plays you're going to rock the exam. He really goes in depth into the plays and draws on important quotations and emotions. Highly advise taking his Shakespeare class over anyone elses. Also, he is an easy marker.

Take Shakespeare & His Contemporaries......go. You will remember it fondly all the days of your life. He is one of those rare breeds of professors who genuinely loves what he's doing, loves his subject matter, loves his students. His classes are enriching and dazzling. And if you just listen, engage, take good notes, you'll do just fine. ENJOY!!!

Cameron is the best professor I've had at Carleton. Helpful, both in class and out of it, I learned to love Shakespeare in a new way because of him. I highly recommend this professor to anyone interested in English, even if you don't think Shakespeare is your thing.

He is by far one of the nicest profs I have ever had! He is really enthusiastic about the subject, I sometimes found him hard to follow in lectures but the discussions were great. I found the final exam difficult but very fair.

Had Prof. Cameron years ago. None of these comments surprise me, and so nice to know that he continues to be a superb educator. So many wonderful memories of my time at Carleton are linked with this man. Few profs inspire students and them passionate like he does.

If you love Shakespeare this is the man to take you into a literary realm beyond belief! Take ENGL 3304 if you can, it's postively an experience worth remembering!

He loves his subject and his passion shows. It's not hard to get a little infected. He expects a lot from his students, but he's fair. He leaves detailed comments on essays (think 5-6 pages) that are extremely helpful. I keep his notes on my desk and refer to them when I write essays for other classes. He's an awesome prof!

Best professor in the faculty-and the English faculty is very strong-with the exception of Gildea-Cameron is great, Kevin is inane, vapid and a blowhard. Gildea, try getting your Phd.

never watched a class, never read one of the plays and still got a B. The important thing is to be prepared for the final exam (since it's like 60% of the mark). Know the themes and what you can talk about and you're good. let's put it this way, I talked about unicrons and the Simpsons on my final exam and still got a B.

Great prof, really enthusiastic about Shakespeare after all these years, still laughing and smiling when it's read in class. Try and go to the lectures as he makes a considerable effort to get to know all of his students. The work load is 2 essays (you choose the deadlines) and a final exam of 4 essays/12 plays covering the whole year.

A fabulous teacher! His passion for Shakespeare draws you into the program. (if only all teacher's were this passionate about their lecture's) Exam - Know the plays... basically find 3 plays and link them in themes (merch of venice, jew of malta, volpone) --main theme - Greed (you study jonson and some other guy too) A VERY GOOD TEACHER!!!

Ian's class is really funny. He's very into the material and is exciting to watch but the exam is really hard! Take notes on themes of each play AS YOU READ THEM otherwise you're going to find it super tough. You need to have the plays memorized!
