She was the worst professor I have ever had. She takes forever to grade EVERYTHING, constantly comes up with excuses and pushes back deadlines. She doesn't give clear instructions for anything but she will send an email out the day before the assignment is due and gives different guidelines from what she initially said. Lectures are useless.

Laney is the best! She is the one professor I remember at WCU. I had some health conditions at the time and she was so sweet and accommodating. She required you show up to class, but it wasnt too tough. She engaged with you and kept it interesting. She had you read and write responses on your own time, which I loved. High recommend her!

Lainey was a really great professor overall. The papers were easy for the most part, just require effort. There is one solo presentation that she expects a lot from, but as long as there is effort shown you will be fine. The examples she uses make class interesting and it typically goes by pretty fast. Take this class if you can!

I decided to take the accelerated winter class and it was the best decision ever. We were only graded on a few things but it's not bad. You definitely need the book. She grades harsher on presentations but as long as you put effort you will be fine! The 8 hour class never dragged except on presentation day b/c you had to watch so many.

Horrible at returning grades. There are 2 days left of class and we still haven't received grades for our last 3 papers and there's another one due tomorrow. Class time is a joke. Jenks just rambles about her sons or other personal stuff. I don't think I've had a less organized professor/teacher in all my years of education.

Lainey is a great professor. She gives great examples and stories which make class enjoyable. Not bad at all for a writing emphasis (Five 500 word reading learning papers These are easy, one 8-10 page interview analysis paper)

Had Dr. Jenks 3 time over the course of my 4 years at WCU and I would take her for every class if I could! She expects you to participate, however, she really makes class interesting so you WANT to participate rather than feel forced. She genuinely cares for her students and is very flexible. as long as you show that you actually do the work - A

Lainey is one of the nicest teachers I have ever had, she honestly wants students to do well. I took this class in the summer and would highly recommend doing this. Mostly memorizing and cumulative final. Make sure you read and participate. Take this teacher if you have the chance!!!!

Professor Jenks is great! Strongly advise any communication studies majors to take her classes. One does have to put forth some effort, but she makes the material easy to understand in class.

Dr. Jenks is a picky grader, but I wouldn't say she's a hard grader. It seems like she has a very specific idea of what she wants in her head. She is slow to return papers, and can come across a little more negative than I think she realizes. She's alright, but I wouldn't take her again.

She's a decent professor, I have no problem with her as a person either. However, she takes FOREVER to return papers. I turned in a paper at the beginning of the semester, and then others close to every week. I've only received one grade and the semester is almost over. She has canceled class multiple times to "grade" yet I have no grades...

I found Dr. Jenk's class to be interesting in the classroom, but next to impossible to follow her instructions, assignments and syllabus. Due dates were constantly shifted and most of the time, I had no idea what was going on in the class. To make matters worse, I'm not sure what I actually learned about Friendship Communication.

Pretty easy class, definitely passable as long as you study. Tests are directly from the notes which she provides. Cumulative final which was essentially each question from the tests. Just a lot of memorizing theories.

Dr. Jenks is one of the best professors at WCU. Highly recommend taking her class before graduating! No tests, just writing assignments that she grades easyfair and provides great feedback. Offers extra credit to assignments if she doesn't return them back in a timely matter. Took as an 8am and never dreaded going. Entertaining lectures

Took a winter session class & I would definitely do it again with Jenks. She was awesome. It was a lot of work, but she's fairly lenient with paper grading which made up most of the course. She's harder with presentation grades, but if you show up to class, participate and put in an effort, you'll do well!

the class is all discussion based on readings. a decent amount of papers, but nothing overwhelming. Jenks keeps the conversation going so it doesn't feel like a 90minute class. extra credit if you attend every class.

She's a nice lady, very opinionated, has good examples, and gives you the notes. Her notes are good but they're disorganized. She does NOT hand back papers timely at all. It took over a month to get back two papers of mine. Could be a great class if she got her act together!!
