Comment:
Programming assignments and class project can take a very long time without much guidance. She also tends to give multiple heavy assignments at once, but seems oblivious to the workload. Lectures are okay some of the time, but can be difficult to follow when she is writing illegibly on zoom and struggling with the technology.

oblivious to the workload she gives you. You'll work for 3-4 days straight for her to tell you that "it was for you to experiment and play around" when you are still graded on correctness. Inflexible and gives largest homework on the same week she wants 2 talk reviews and the final project(with pretty much 0 guidance). Insists on final exam still

I'm gonna be honest here I had no clue what was going on the whole time. The homeworks are on concepts she incoherently talked about in lecture for 2-3 minutes- or not even mentioned at all. There was no textbook and the readings were literally wikipeadia pages. Had to drop because I couldn't afford to spend 20 hours working on assignments.

Really vague assignments, theoretical topics in class aren't helpful for homework. Terrible lecturer, has no coherent plan/slides/textbook for class

I don't know why a lot of people are not happy with this class. In my opinion, it's a great class and the professor is really nice. The workload varies depending on if you are a Graduate Student or Undergraduate Student. She usually gives around 2-3 writing and 2-3 programming assignments which are fairly complicated. I loved this class!

Not a very good class that I could recommend to my friends. I thought AI was an interesting subject but this class and the prof make me never want to study this field. The assignments are very unclear and hard to understand what she's looking for, and they're graded harshly. The exams are even worse.

Assignments MUST be done in groups even if it says that they are optional. Trying to understand homework questions is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, ESPECIALLY when she never posts her lecture slides when she says she will. If you don't go to class every day and take thorough notes, passing the class is impossible.

The field of AI is such an interesting topic, I was looking forward to learning it but she is god awful. The lectures are confusing. No textbook at all. Really heavy calculus with very little context. The only upside to this class are the programming assignments. Though difficult, they are fun and interesting (b/c of the helpful TA).

Garbage professor. She has trouble speaking in lucid clear and coherent sentences. The lectures range between elementary classification of animals and multivariable calculus. Highly disrecommend the AI class.

Really interested projects, really reputed in the field of computer vision and HCI, but not the ideal instructor when teaching undergraduates, or even master's students. Concepts in class too theoretical and sometimes vague. But if you do the assignments properly, you'll get a better idea of the content. Also, the final exam is take-home!

Doesn't follow any textbook. Doesn't post any lecture notes. She picks random, obscure Computer Vision topics so you can't self study. Has Piazza but does not reply to any posts. Ambiguous about everything. Have no idea what to expect for tests. Bad lecturer. Boring to listen to and horrible at explaining concepts.

This is a strange class. Professor Betke is not a very pedagogical teacher, and i doubt she will ever be one as she seems to just be too busy with research to prepare and think out a learnable lecture. Self-motivated students only.

Comment:
Betke's lectures seem to have a very strong focus on current research instead of actually teaching us what we need to complete the (tough) programming assignments and homeworks. Other than that, she's a very sweet lady and a clear speaker. I'd recommend the class to a friend.

3 things really make me think this one as a bad class. 1. Not even a piazza page, this means I can hardly get any help outside classoffice. 2. No focus in lectures. Simply showing the products of AI doesn't make me learn anything 3. Ambiguous hw description. I always have no idea what to do for the hw.

Comment:
Margrit is passionate about the subject and is easy to understand ( at the graduate level, clearly-understandable English speakers are a luxury ). However, her lectures are not logically connected, are disorganized, and can be dry. It struck me that class plays second fiddle to her research. I'm disappointed.
