Comment:
The final counts for about 40%. Consequently, if your finals dont go well, you are gonna screw up the entire grade. Professor Homer does give a tough final, to be honest. The assignments are of moderate-to-tough level. You need to read the textbook thoroughly to get clarity about the topics. Overall, Prof. Homer is very cooperative and polite.

very light load. However, grading based on relative basis. If everyone did well (very likely because of easy material) and u made some careless mistake, then u're done (worse than A-). never thought I'd only got an A- in such easy stuff Not well-prepared for class, bad time control. classmate said average around B+

Not my cup of tea but an adequate teacher. He just tends to get very sidetracked during class and ends up rambling about a lot of things you may have already covered.

While professor Homer is a very nice person, his lecture is very confusing. He literally just kept scribbling in the board, and his voice is weak and unclear. TF is helpful in office hour. Anyway, at least this class is much better than Xi's CS320, since you have to choose one from the two. I recommend this class than the other.

Homer is a very cool guy. If you put in effort, he will definitely reward you for it. Not an easy class, but between him, the TA, and the textbook, it is straight-forward enough. Obviously this class very heavy theory ("theory" of computation), so it can be difficult at time to understand the concepts.

Stuff is pretty easy as long as you come to class and practice relevant problems. Can be unprepared to lectures but makes sure he goes over stuff that seems to confuse people. Always cuts office hours, but still pretty helpful: gives hints for certain problems. Grading is fair and takes into account trend of your scores.

I don't understand why anyone rated him highly. He never teaches in class, just rambles. When he actually has something important to say, he mumbles. Overall this class was pretty easy and you can teach yourself. But that doesn't make his teaching any better.

What can I say, one of the best professors ever. He'll never intimidate you with tests by asking stuff that he didn't teach. Very helpful with problem sets and his constant smiling makes his class feel really fun.

Very easy and he is very generous with his grading. In the end if you try and he can tell then your grade will reflect your effort. If you are just good at the stuff he is teaching then class attendance isn't mandatory, but recommended because he'll sometimes just teach things in class that are not in the book (if he makes you get a book).

Great professor. He is one of the few cs professors who doesn't try to kill his students with work. He can be a bit unprepared for class sometimes, but you can tell he really is interested in what he is teaching. Highly recommended.

The class is difficult, however Homer is a great professor! He and Azer Bestavros, in my opinion, are the two best CS prof's at BU (sorry for the plug)! He is very helpful outside of class and takes paricular interest in ensuring students understand the material. Class is difficult, but fair. Homer is a great teacher and a great guy!

Very good professor!! the hand writing sometimes gets difficult to understand, but the calss is really fun. You can see many applications of algorithms. Im happy i didnt take it with another professor, check out the Syllabus and compare, you will see a clear difference between the teaching approaches.

Comment:
Lectures are a bit dry. They're mostly the theory, though code is sometimes shown. Homer wants everyone to do well, so talk to him if you're having problems. Tests were a bit easy. Homeworks require a lot of work, but the grade usually reflects it. Labs seemed useless.
