She gives a lot of unnecessary papers with vague grading criteria that don't teach you anything you will need to know for the real world.

Dr. Gillis is a great professor. She can be tough at times and she expects you to figure some things out on your own, but she is just trying to prepare you for life.

she is a great teacher if you know how to go about her grading style and seeing her for questions! she does like some classes better than others but she is always more than willing to help with any issues or questions you might have! she wants students to succeed but also be ready for the real world so she is vague in some of her directions!

Thank god for the group work because her grading is ridiculous. We asked her to look over our work & edited it accordingly and then turned it in. We received it back with twice as many marks as before. This woman is dreadfully vague and is a hard grader. Sometimes she talks down to students too. It's a wonder why she is still teaching.

Had her for Org. Com. 333. She loves the class, but doesn't like PR. Leaves details vague, have fun typing 3x10+ page papers

No CLUE what the bad reviews are talking about here... I loved her and thought she was a great teacher, as did the rest of my class. I thought she was a very sweet person and was very clear in what she expected of us.

Helpful, knowledgeable teacher. But too hard for some people who obviously want to skate through college. I graduated a few years ago and still keep in touch. She's a great mentor, great resource, and all around a great person to know.

Classic example of a prof who if forced to live in the real world, would starve to death. Apparently humility is never taught while earning a doctoral degree

Dr. Gillis is tough, yes, but she knows what she is talking about. If you are in comm. to get a quick degree, then you won't appreciate what she has to offer, but if you want to succeed, pay attention, you just may learn something,... the socratic way.

This woman shouldn't be teaching journalism. I don't think she has a clue what she's talking about, and she's driving students from the field by forcing them to memorize the AP Style Guide, from A to Z! Truly ridiculous nonsense.

Our class mostly hates this woman. Feature Writing has nothing to do w/ writing features, it's Independent Magazine Production. We were expected to do in 3 weeks what a professional team takes up to 6 months to do! And very little help from her at all!
