Comment:
Just don't. Unsympathetic to anything outside of his class. Requires a lot of reading and no extra credit. His multiple-choice tests have multiple rights answers and if you don't pick the "most" right answer, you are marked wrong. That's the kind of guy you're working with. Those that are saying 'he's not that tough' are full of it.

Professor Grippe's class is a bit difficult, but it forces you to think outside of the box and do a lot of research on your own. If you are having trouble, you should reach out to him, and he seems to be very understanding and willing to work with you. This class is good if you want to test your critical thinking skills, and I'm glad I took it.

This class was a full-time job. (and I already have a full-time job) Professor Grippe overloads students with work and changes due dates as well as grading criteria constantly. If you take this class or any class with Professor Grippe, chances are you will have no idea how you are doing in the class until you get your final grade.

Professor Grippe, is not all that bad. It seemed hard at first, but when he sees you trying he works with you. He gives a lot of feedback, which might seem harsh but then it just helps you get a good grade. He is just very passionate about the subject and wants everyone to understand it.

I had him for Ethics and World Religions. Philosophy In general is interesting and complex. Be prepared to read and use critical thinking. Although I didnt ace any of his classes, I truly enjoyed his lectures. His life experiences, and wisdom will broaden your worldview. Dont skip class or any quizzes. Take philosophy if you can in college.

The worst teacher I have taken at NCC by far!! Expects everyone to be an expert in philosophy. Doesnt give you an explanation as to why you received the grade you got. If you state your opinion & he disagrees itd be considered as wrong. Try to take someone else if possible.

I took him in person for his World Religions course as well as his online Intro to Philosophy course. He is very knowledgeable and can be humorous at times; counts attendance. However, he can be a little stubborn and regularly paused lectures to yell at students for being distracted. Read the textbook and materials provided and you'll do fine.

He gets a lot of hate but hes fine as a teacher. Students try to argue with him on a subject where HE has a PhD and thats a lot of who are giving bad comments. Just listen to his lectures, accept when ur wrong, and do the work.

Posted a due date for discussions but then backtracked and closed it before I had to chance to respond. Horrible explaining due dates and assignments. Had half my grade taken off a paper for adding an extra page on info to support my point. No feedback on how to improve the paper. Expected us to answer quizzes with 1 minute per question. Horrible.

I think he gets a bad rap just because philosophy can be a confusing subject. If you take good notes (seriously - write down everything he says) you will get an A. His lectures can be a bit disorganized but he's more than happy to answer questions and reading the textbook helps clarify things.

Don't know what all these negative comments are about. I took his religion class online and found it very straight-forward. Tests are multiple choice and short essays. (Open book though) and the material is not hard at all. Easy A guys

He shouldn't be teaching an online class. His syllabus wasn't clear, due dates were missing. It seems like he doesn't know how to set up the website. He expects a lot and is hard to please. His tests are difficult, his essay assignments long. I wouldn't recommend taking him online.

Simply, the man is a Tool. Operates this course as an echo-chamber, then arbitrarily abuses the concept of "Devil's Advocate" like a 'magic spell' to somehow undo the remedial failures in his logic. As stated, technology-inept & communicates poorly. Imagine Prof. Trump. Expect to pick up his slack. Now seating, Ego Masturbation. Run, don't walk.

He had no clear expectations. We received a syllabus without due dates, he would close discussion boards without warning, etc. He does not check his email and barely knows how to use blackboard. Absolutely no communication, no expectations explained, no midterm grade, little to no feedback on our essays, etc. Ridiculous. Dropped class at midpoint
